New Zealand Women are favorites to win.
New Zealand and Sri Lanka get their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup campaigns underway in Perth in this Group A fixture. The match takes place at the WACA Ground on February 22 and is scheduled to start at 19:00 local time.
With Australia and India in the same group, it could be tough to reach the knock-out stages so both teams need to start with a win. New Zealand – with captain Sophie Devine’s outstanding form at the forefront – were dominant as they warmed up for this tournament by thrashing South Africa.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, rely heavily on Chamari Atapattu and lost their last bilateral series to Australia. With Atapattu hitting an unbeaten half-century, however, they did beat England in one of their warm-up matches to show they will not be pushovers in this tournament.

New Zealand enjoyed a lot of success with the toss in their series against South Africa and may be happy to set a target again in this match.
There is some rain on the forecast on a cloudy Perth day, with the chance of it falling during this game given at 23 per cent. Otherwise, it will be cloudy overhead and a bit humid.
The WACA Ground is hard, fast and bouncy – overhead conditions could combine with that to ensure this favours the pace bowlers but good batting will be rewarded too.

Jess Kerr and Anna Peterson staked their claim for a starting place at the end of their series win against South Africa, but Amelia Kerr, Leigh Kasperek and Lea Tahuhu will also expect to feature with the ball.
They chopped and changed in that series before the fifth match – which could have provided another clue as to the XI for this game – was rained off.
Sophie Devine: Soared to second in the WT20i world rankings with some stunning batting against South Africa – hitting three half-centuries and then her maiden T20 century – to continue the form she had showcased at the WBBL and the Women’s Super Smash.
Suzie Bates: Still ranked ahead of Devine in the ICC rankings for WT20i batting, and shared another big partnership with the captain in their most recent T20i win – hitting an unbeaten 47 of her own in the process.
Leigh Kasperek: Enters the tournament with 60 wickets in 36 previous WT20i matches and the Scottish-born spinner will form a key part of the New Zealand bowling attack.
Sophie Devine’s stunning batting form ensured New Zealand arrive at this Women World Cup 2020 tournament in good form, on the back of a 3-1 series win against South Africa. The final game of the series was rained off, bit Devine’s maiden WT20i century was central to victory in the previous match – taking her to 297 runs in the series in total.

Chamari Atapattu leads a Sri Lankan team which shows four changes from the last time they were in Australia. One of the incoming players, Hasini Perera, looks set to partner Atapattu at the top of the order after her role in the ten-wicket win against England.
Chamari Atapattu: Scored her first WT20i century when Sri Lanka were last in Australia in September, and the all-rounder starred in the recent warm-up win against England too with 3-21 and 78*.
Shashikala Siriwardene: Took 4-22 with her off-spin bowling against England in that warm-up win to prove she is still capable of making a big impact on this team.
Hasini Perera: The 24-year-old could answer some of the issues facing Sri Lanka with the bat, having partnered Atapattu at the top of the order in the warm-up matches.
Sri Lanka were simply no match for Australia in their most recent bilateral WT20i series, losing all three matches despite Chamari Atapattu’s maiden century in the format keeping the first game interesting.
Sri Lanka have now lost their last ten consecutive WT20 internationals.

Given their comparative form in T20 cricket, it is no surprise to see New Zealand are huge favourites to win this game.
New Zealand were in dominant form against South Africa and should kick off the World Cup with a big win too.
