Who will win New Zealand vs India, 2ndT20 2020?

After a dominant six-wicket win in the first game of the series, India will look to double their series lead when they and New Zealand meet at Eden Park again. The second game of the series takes place in Auckland on January 26 and the live action starts at 19:50 local time.

New Zealand’s batsman had laid a solid foundation in the last match, as Colin Munro, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor all scored half-centuries in a total of 203/5. The bowlers, among whom was Hamish Bennett on his T20i debut, could not keep a lid on the scoring rate in reply, however.

KL Rahul and Virat Kohli shared a 99-run partnership for the second wicket, in just 8.2 overs, before Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten half-century ensured they sealed a six-wicket win with an over to spare.

NZ vs IND Toss Prediction

New Zealand have lost the toss and been asked to bat first in each of their last two T20 internationals at Auckland. They are due a change in fortune at the toss and could field first.

NZ vs IND Weather Report

Auckland is set to be clear and sunny throughout the day; there will be some humidity to contend with, but conditions are otherwise ideal.

NZ vs IND Pitch Condition

Eden Park played as expected last time out – there is some spin, but it is also an excellent pitch for batting.

New Zealand Team News & Playing 11

NZ Team News

Hamish Bennett made his T20i debut last time out, after a solid season in the Super Smash, with Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson sidelined. The bowling attack may be tweaked this time, however, with all-rounder Daryl Mitchell a possible addition at Blair Tickner’s expense. Colin de Grandhomme was out cheap last time out, but he is likely to retain his place as he is only in the squad for these first two matches.

NZ Key Players

Martin Guptill: Finished the Super Smash in good batting form and continued that as he set the tone with 30 from 19 balls at the top of the innings. His partnership with Munro could be key to New Zealand’s chances.

Colin Munro: Started the series ranked fourth in the ICC world rankings for T20i batsmen, and he showed why as he hit six fours and two sixes on his way to 59 last time out.

Mitchell Santner: Continued his wicket-taking form last time out as he got Rohit Sharma out early, but he did prove expensive – he needs to reign in the runs conceded if he is to show why he is ranked third in the world T20i bowling rankings.

NZ Team Form

New Zealand have now lost their last three T20 internationals – two in a row, including the final one in a super over to lose their last series to England and then the opening game of this series too. There was nothing wrong with their batting last time out – Colin Munro, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor all passing 50 in a competitive total of 203/5. Their bowlers could not stop India’s batsmen racing to victory with an over to spare, however.

New Zealand Predicted Playing 11

Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson (c), Tim Seifert (wk), Ross Taylor, Colin de Grandhomme, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Hamish Bennett, Ish Sodhi

NZ vs IND Dream11 Prediction

Wicket-keeper

KL Rahul is in excellent form with the bat for India and even at ten credits he looks top value as the wicket-keeper choice. Tim Seifert is 8.5 credits but bats further down the order and was out cheap last time out.

Batsmen

Five batsmen hit half-centuries in the last match, Virat Kohli went close, Martin Guptill batted well and Rohit Sharma is always a threat too. The question, then is how to translate that into a smart, balanced team selection. Rahul is already in and Virat Kohli can never be ignored at 10.5 credits. Shreyas Iyer is top value at 8.5 credits, which makes him tempting, while Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor and Colin Munro are all cheaper than Martin Guptill – helping balance the team better on this batting wicket.

All-rounders

Mitchell Santner was expensive last time out but still added another T20i wicket to his name and at 8.5 credits he is good value too. Shivam Dube is only eight credits, as is Ravindra Jadeja, and both are great options too.

Bowlers

Onto the bowlers and Jasprit Bumrah, as expected, kept things tight and took a wicket last time out. He is consistent in white ball cricket. Yuzvendra Chahal led the spin attack and so he is worth considering at 8.5 credits, while Shardul Thakur is top value at eight credits. Ish Sodhi was New Zealand’s top bowler, meanwhile, and he comes in at 8.5 credits.

Captain/Vice-captain

KL Rahul is consistent in T20i cricket at the moment and hard to ignore as a result. After another half-century last time out and given he is behind the stumps too, he is a top choice for captain. For vice-captain, Virat Kohli fired again last time out and his record always makes him worth considering in Dream 11.

India Team News & Playing 11

IND Team News

KL Rahul kept wicket last time out, allowing Shivam Dube to play as an all-rounder without having to drop either Shreyas Iyer or Manish Pandey. That balance works well, and India could stick with it – including Yuzvendra Chahal in for Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja as the second spinner.

IND Key Players

KL Rahul: Another blistering half-century in another India T20i win – he hit 56 from 27 balls to record his tenth T20i half-century, having also starred in the recent wins against West Indies and Sri Lanka.

Virat Kohli: Fell just short of a 25th T20i half-century but he had already done the damage as he posted 45 from 32 balls and shared a 99-run partnership for the second wicket with KL Rahul.

Jasprit Bumrah: Got Tim Seifert out late on and conceded just two boundaries to maintain his economical bowling record in T20 international cricket – which is all the more impressive when you consider he bowls in the powerplay and at the death.

IND Team Form

India have beaten Bangladesh, West Indies and Sri Lanka in their last three T20i series and now can put themselves on the brink of another triumph after opening this NZ vs IND 2020 series with a win too.

Chasing 204 to win, KL Rahul (56 from 27 balls), Virat Kohli (45 from 32) and Shreyas Iyer (58* from 29) ensured they shook off jetlag to win by six wickets with one over to spare.

India Predicted Playing 11

Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul (wk), Virat Kohli (c), Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Manish Pandey, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah

New Zealand vs India Head to Head

India are working to correct a poor record in this fixture, having started this series with just three wins in 11 previous T20 internationals against New Zealand – including a 2-1 series loss when they last met. There were five half-centurions in the opening game of this series – Colin Munro, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, but it was India who claimed a six-wicket win chasing 204 to claim victory with an over to spare.

  • IND Top Bowler: Jasprit Bumrah is 3.40 to be India’s top team bowler with Bet365 after a wicket and some economical bowling last time out. Yuzvendra Chahal is 4.00, while Mohammed Shami is 4.50 and Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur can be backed at 5.00.
