NZ vs BAN Toss Prediction

Four of the last five one-day internationals played at the University Oval have been won by the side bowling first. Since the pitch at this ground, in recent times, has tended to become relatively better for batting during the second-half of a game, the toss-winning captain will probably opt to bowl first.

New Zealand Team News & Playing 11

NZ Team News

New Zealand have rested Kane Williamson for the third one-day international and Tom Latham will be in charge of the team. Williamson has been replaced by Colin Munro who was not picked for the first two matches and he will be taking up his usual opening position with Martin Guptill. The Kiwis brought in Todd Astle for Mitchell Santner in the last game and he is expected to be retained in the playing eleven. Having already won the series, the hosts could decide to rest Trent Boult and give Tim Southee some game time.

NZ Key Players

Martin Guptill is having a fantastic series and is looking in ominous form having cracked a ton in both the matches. He will now be joined by the explosive Colin Munro at the top who can give Bangladesh plenty of headaches if not removed early on. Ross Taylor is another danger man in this batting line-up. The veteran has scored 66 runs in the series and is yet to be dismissed. He is also the leading ODI run-getter at this ground with 436 runs in six matches. Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry troubled the visitors in the first two games and they are likely to trouble them again at Dunedin. Ferguson has taken five wickets so far while Boult and Henry have four and three respectively. Boult is the highest wicket-taker at this ground in ODIs with 14 wickets in five matches and he will be the most threatening of the trio if he plays on Wednesday.

NZ Recent Form

The emphatic eight-wicket victory at Christchurch was New Zealand's sixth win in the ten one-day internationals they have played so far this year, and all of those have been played at home. The Kiwis started this year with a 3-0 whitewash of Sri Lanka, then lost three on the trot to India but now have three wins in their last four matches. New Zealand have been brilliant with the ball in the ongoing series and they have not really broken a sweat with the bat either.

New Zealand Predicted Playing 11

Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Ross Taylor, Tom Latham (c/wk), Henry Nicholls, James Neesham, Colin de Grandhomme, Todd Astle, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult/Tim Southee

Bangladesh Team News & Playing 11

BAN Team News

Bangladesh are going into this game with a couple of injury concerns. Mohammad Mithun, the only batsman in the side who has looked in good form, suffered a hamstring injury while batting in the second ODI at Christchurch. The extent of his injury is unknown and his availability for the third ODI remains doubtful. Mominul Haque is likely to replace Mithun if he is not able to recover in time. Mushfiqur Rahim is also carrying an injury and he too is currently under observation.

BAN Key Players

Mohammad Mithun has hit a half-century in both the matches and is the only batsman in this Bangladeshi batting group who has looked impressive. However, he has picked up an injury and it will be up to the likes of senior members in Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim to step up and score the big runs in case Mithun gets ruled out. Tamim has scored just 10 runs in the series and the team will be hoping that he fires on Wednesday. Bangladesh will need the likes of Mustafizur Rahman, Mashrafe Mortaza and Mehidy Hasan to bring their A-game into play if they are to have any chance of averting a series whitewash. Rahman was the pick of the bowlers last time with figures of 2-42 from nine overs and the visitors will back the pacer to deliver another good performance. Mehidy Hasan has been pretty economical and the off-spinner will be expected to keep things tight in the middle overs.

BAN Recent Form

Bangladesh have now lost three of their last four one-day internationals and six of their last eleven ODIs played away from home. The visitors have faced humiliating defeats in the first two ODIs of the ongoing series and they have only their top-order batsmen to blame for that. Their openers have scored in single figures so far and this has put a lot of pressure on the batsmen to follow. Bangladesh have posted below par totals and they have not managed to play out their full fifty overs on both occasions.

Bangladesh Predicted Playing 11

Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mohammad Mithun/Mominul Haque, Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Mehidy Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mashrafe Mortaza (c), Mustafizur Rahman

New Zealand vs Bangladesh Head to Head

New Zealand and Bangladesh have now played 33 one-day internationals against each other and the hosts are leading the scoreline 23-10.

New Zealand have now beaten Bangladesh seven times in their previous nine ODI meetings.

New Zealand recorded a comfortable five-wicket win in the only one-day international they have played against Bangladesh at the University Oval back in February 2010. The hosts restricted the visitors to a paltry 183/8 after electing to bowl first and later knocked off their target with ease to wrap up the game inside 28 overs.

Matches Played: 33; New Zealand Won: 23; Bangladesh Won: 10

New Zealand vs Bangladesh Betting Odds

New Zealand are heavy favorites to win this third one-day international at very short odds of 1.16 on Betway, 1.14 on Bet365 and 1.18 on Betfair. Bangladesh begin as the bookmakers' underdogs for this game and they are being offered at a much higher price of 4.75 on Betway, 5.50 on Bet365 and 6.40 on Betfair.

🏆 New Zealand vs Bangladesh Prediction

Bangladesh will be playing for pride and they will be hoping to escape the humiliation of a series whitewash. But that looks tough for them at the moment as they are struggling to perform with both bat and ball in these conditions. Nothing has gone their way so far and to make matters worse, they could be without Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Mithun which will further reduce their chances of a win. New Zealand have been dominant in both the games and they will now be playing at a venue which has been a very happy hunting ground for them in this format. The Kiwis have not lost an ODI here and we expect them to maintain that record when they face a hapless Bangladesh on Wednesday.
