Northern Knights vs Wellington, Super Smash 2020-21
The Northern Knights vs Wellington is a very crucial encounter. Wellington have won both their previous matches thus a win in the next game will solidify their position in the tournament while Northern Knights, after a shocking defeat in the last match will look to get some points on board. The match will be played on 1st January 2021 and is scheduled to begin at 7:10 PM local time.
Conceding 223 in their 20 overs and then getting restricted to 173 on a good batting wicket is not what we expected from Northern Knights. They do have a pretty solid team with players like Tim Seifert, Anton Devcich, Dean Brownlie, Scott Kuggeleijn and Brett Randall. All of them are considered among the best T-20 players in New Zealand but their performance against Central Stags were very disappointing.
However, we’d like to believe that it was just a one off day and Northern Knights are good enough to make a comeback against Wellington .
Firebirds on the other hand have been terrific in their two games. They chased 176 against Auckland in the tournament opener and then backed it back by defending 175 against a strong Central Stags.
Devon Conway, Jimmy Neesham, Michael Bracewell, Finn Allen and Rachin Ravindra have been in top form of late and form a pretty solid batting line up.
Hamish Bennett, Logan va Beek, Peter Younghusband, Jimmy Neesham and Rachin Ravindra were neat against the Stags, something we expect them to do consistently.
All in all, both teams have plenty of quality in their squad but Wellington has looked pretty composed in both their matches. The batting has been stable and the bowlers have backed their batsmen splendidly.
Even though Northern Knights look a very stiff opposition, we expect Wellington to emerge victorious in the match.

Northern Knights Team News & Playing 11
NK Team News
The Northern Knights have named an unchanged squad for their new year clash with Wellington. Frederick Walker was the only one that missed out in the last match thus we may see Knights giving him an opportunity in this game.
NK Key Players
- Anton Devcich - Anton Devcich was arguably the best batsmen of the previous game from both sides. He smashed a magnificent 102 off just 49 deliveries and kept Knights in the hunt for the most part of the chase. He’s looks a million dollar player to us and we’ll back him to come good in the next match as well.
- Tim Seifert - Seifert failed to impress in the previous game we think no one will doubt his abilities with the bat. He a batsmen that can decimate an opposition on his own, something Northern Knights would expect from him in the next game.
- Scott Kuggeleijn - Scott Kuggeleijn is regarded as one of the best T-20 bowler going around in world cricket. Also, he’s a very handy batsmen too. He’ll play a big role for the knights in the next game.
