Daryl Mitchell, Brett Hampton and Corey Anderson are the pillars in the Knights' batting line-up and the team will expect at least one of them to make a 50+ score in this match. Mitchell is amongst the leading run-getters this Super Smash with 212 runs in six matches and is coming off a fine 49 against Wellington Firebirds. Hampton struck a half-century in the reverse fixture while Anderson is always a big threat to the oppositions due to his big-hitting ability. Among the bowlers, it will be up to Kyle Abbott, Neil Wagner and Daryl Mitchell to take wickets and put the brakes on Canterbury's scoring rate. Abbott was the pick of the bowlers last time. The former South Africa international fast bowler impressed with figures of 2-19 from four overs in his very first game of the season. Wagner, however, had a rough day with the ball and he will be backed by the Knights to bounce back.

Canterbury Kings had a very poor day with the bat in the last game against Central Districts as they could manage just 112 from their 20 overs. They know that they will need to come up with a much better performance against the red-hot Knights, and for that, they will need strong contributions from Tom Latham, Chad Bowes, Cole McConchie and Andrew Ellis. Skipper McConchie has scored the most runs for the team with 170 runs in five matches. Bowes had smashed a 46-ball 67 in the reverse encounter and the Kings will be hoping for something similar from this opening batsman. The team will turn to Kyle Jamieson, Todd Astle and Andrew Ellis to do the job when it comes to bowling. Jamieson has been in tremendous form this Super Smash season and is leading the wickets charts with 13 wickets which includes a five-fer against Auckland Aces. Ellis took a three-wicket haul last time against the Knights and he will look to replicate that bowling performance here.

Knights and Canterbury Kings have won 11 times each in the 23 matches they have played against each other in the New Zealand domestic twenty20 tournaments. One of those matches has resulted in a tie.
The Knights have won three of their last four completed matches against Canterbury Kings, including the most recently played two.
The Knights secured a two-wicket win when these two teams met in the last week's reverse encounter at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Canterbury Kings, after being put into bat first, posted a challenging total of 193/5 in their 20 overs. However, a fifty from Brett Hampton and a cameo by skipper Daniel Flynn towards the end took the Knights over the line.

Knights begin as favorites to win this Super Smash match at odds of 1.53 on Betway and 1.50 on Betfair. Canterbury Kings find themselves as the underdogs amongst the bookmakers. They are being offered at a higher price of 2.37 on Betway and 2.62 on Betfair.
Reigning champions Knights are right on the track to a successful title defence after winning five of their first six league games. Canterbury Kings have started their Super Smash campaign in exactly the opposite fashion - they have lost four of their first five matches and are languishing at the bottom of the points table. Pressure, obviously, is going to be immense on them as they now need to win all of their remaining games to have any chance of advancing to the preliminary final. The Knights have the psychological advantage of having beaten the Kings earlier in the season. They also have plenty of momentum on their side with wins in their last four matches and we expect them to continue their winning run.
Final Verdict: Back Knights to beat Canterbury Kings at 1.53 with Betway and 1.50 with Betfair.
