Northamptonshire are favorites to win
Northamptonshire Steelbacks will take on Yorkshire Vikings in the 2022 Vitality Blast. The game will be played at The County Ground, Northampton starting at 18:30 local time on Friday June 24th.
Northamptonshire Steelbacks began this week on the verge of topping the North Group and looking to extend their proud four game winning streak in the competition. However, it has been a very disappointing few days for them after defeats by 6 wickets to Derbyshire Falcons on Tuesday and Birmingham Bears, by the same margin, on Wednesday. The Steelbacks now find themselves in third place, level on points with the Falcons in fourth, and only one point ahead of Yorkshire Vikings in fifth. Northamptonshire have won six matches in the competition and should have enough quality to reach the knockout stage of the tournament.
Yorkshire Vikings have 13 points from 11 games and, although they are currently out of the top four, they are only three points behind Lancashire Lightning at the top of the North Group. The Vikings have won two of their last three games, a defeat against Derbyshire Falcons sandwiched in between victories over Worcestershire Rapids and Durham. Thursday’s win over Worcestershire saw off-spinner Dom Bess take 3-15 from 4 overs before Tom Kohler-Cadmore struck 46 not out from 32 balls. The Vikings got home with 5 wickets and 32 balls remaining.

The match will be played at The County Ground, Northampton. There were 424 runs in the last T20 Blast game at this venue and we expect another high scoring affair.
