Our Pick West Indies are favorites to win
New Zealand will host West Indies for the first match of the 3 T-20 series on Friday. The match will be played at the Eden Park and is scheduled to get underway at 19:00 PM local time.
New Zealand is a formidable side, at home, they're even more dangerous. They're up against the most unpredictable yet a an exciting team in West Indies. The problem for West Indies over the years have been their consistency but on their day, they'll humiliate the best teams in the world. New Zealand are without the services of their Mr dependable, Kane Williamson and most of their players haven't played much cricket of late, thus the batting could be a little rusty. Martin Guptill, Tim Seifert, Ross Taylor and Glen Phillips will be responsible for doing the bulk of scoring. Jimmy Neesham and Mark Chapman might also get a spot in the middle order. Cricket or not, all these players have tremendous skills and even though they're a little undercooked, they do constitute a formidable batting line up. Kyle Jamieson was absolutely scintillating against India and will be hoping to continue his good run against West Indies as well. Tim Southee is way past his prime but at home, he'll be an asset for the host. Lockie Ferguson, Mitchell Santner complete a pretty solid bowling unit.
West Indies is always a second favourite team of every cricket fanatic. The brand of cricket they play add to the charm of this fantastic sport. Undoubtedly, they have the skills to dominate world cricket in this format of the game but somehow they haven't been able to deliver consistent performances. The batting is going to be led by Andre Fletcher, Brandon King, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard and Kyle Mayers. All these players are big power hitters and will fancy their chances on the timid Auckland stadium. Sheldon Cottrell is sure to feature in the first T-20 but there are plenty in line for a spot in the XI. We expect West Indies to start with Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas, kesrick Williams and Keemo Paul. There is no doubt that West Indies can challenge New Zealand in this series but will they be able to deliver collective, consistent performance is yet to be seen. Assuming that West Indies justifies their potential, we expect New Zealand will have a hard time in stopping the visitors.
