Who will win Netherlands vs United Arab Emirates 1st T20i?
With one eye on the forthcoming World T20 qualifier, the Netherlands will welcome the UAE for this four-game T20I series. The first match, taking place at the VRA Cricket Ground, Amstelveen, takes place on August 3 and the live action begins at 16:00.
The Dutch, who beat Zimbabwe in their most recent home series, have selected a young squad – leaving their English-based players to compete in the Vitality Blast instead. Nevertheless, they will be keen to continue their good form in the tournament.
For the UAE, meanwhile, this is a chance to step up their preparations after beating the USA in their most recent T20i. They lost to Nepal before that, however, and need to find some more consistent form.

Stef Myburgh: The big-hitting batsman is fit again and looking to build on two decent starts in his last two T20i innings – scoring 34 and 24 in the matches against Oman and Scotland. He has a T20i average of 25.85 and a strike rate of 119.31.
Max O’Dowd: In excellent form in the matches against Zimbabwe, scoring 86* and 59 in his two ODIs and then 30 and 56 in the two T20i matches.

After winning two of their three matches at the Oman Quadrangular tournament in February, the Netherlands’ most recent T20i matches were against Zimbabwe. Roelof van der Merwe lifted them to 199/6 in the first game, before they bowled the tourists out for 150.
In the second match, Max O’Dowd hit 56 in a total of 152/8 before Roelof van der Merwe’s superb comeback at the end of the last over saw them bowl Zimbabwe out for the same score – the last three balls ending in wickets (two bowled, one run out). In the super over, however, Fred Klaassen conceded 18 and, after Van der Merwe was dismissed, O’Dowd could only help them to nine in their over.

Focussed on ODI cricket in more recent months, the UAE’s last T20I series was against the USA in March. Looking to bounce back from a 2-1 series defeat to Nepal, the first match was rained off as the UAE looked to chase 153 to win.
In the second match, Rohan Mustafa (45) and Shaiman Anwar (62) led the hosts to 182/7 in Dubai. In reply, Sultan Ahmed claimed 3-33 and Zahoor Khan 2-22 as the UAE restricted USA to 158/6.
