If Kings XI Punjab Bat First

If Mumbai don't get rid of Punjab's opening pair of Amla and Vijay early, they could be eyeing a target in excess of 150. These two batsmen form the pillars of their team's batting and it should be an intriguing battle when they face McClenaghan and Southee. Mumbai will bank on these two to provide them early breakthroughs and if they do succeed, it will put an enormous pressure on Miller and Saha who have not been among the runs in this IPL. There is no word yet on Maxwell's fitness, but if he plays, it will definitely give KXIP more hope.

Kings XI Punjab aren't as bad a team as their position in the league standings indicate. They do have quality international players in their squad but the only issue with them has been that their key players like Maxwell and Miller have been out of form for a long time. If they can play to their full potential, they will be hard to beat. Mumbai, in comparison, consist of a sharper bowling attack and have performed better together as a unit. Also, their victory over Punjab in the reverse fixture will give them a psychological edge.
Taking all these factors into account, we believe that Mumbai Indians should be the favorites to win the match. But write off Kings XI Punjab at your own peril.
