Melbourne Renegades Women are favorites to win

Who will win Melbourne Stars vs Melbourne Renegades, WBBL 2019?

Melbourne Renegades need to beat Melbourne Stars to ensure they stay firmly in play-off contention in WBBL|05 – as well as to reclaim derby bragging rights. The match takes place on November 30 at the CitiPower Centre and the live action is scheduled to start at 10:40 local time.

The Stars won last time these two teams met – Lizelle Lee starring with the bat in a seven-wicket victory – but they have otherwise been in poor form this season. That was one of only two wins this season, and they lost to Sydney Thunder by 18 runs in their most recent game.

On the same day, Melbourne Renegades were getting back to winning ways with Danni Wyatt in top all-round form. The English all-rounder took 2-26 and then hammered 87 from 55 balls as they set the new highest successful WBBL run chase. They posted 185/4 to beat Brisbane Heat by six wickets and move level on points with fourth-placed Sydney Sixers.

Melbourne Stars Women Team News & Playing 11

MLSW Team News

Melbourne Stars were unchanged last time out, after the win against the Renegades when these teams last met. Nicole Faltum was behind the stumps again, while Holly Ferling continued, having cemented her place ahead of Chloe Rafferty recently. It could be the same 11 to take on the Renegades again.

MLSW Key Players

Lizelle Lee: Starred when these teams last met with her third half-century of this year’s tournament, while she has also hit a hundred on her way to 389 runs in this year’s tournament.

Mignon du Preez: Her recent form has seen her leapfrog her fellow South African a the top of the run-scoring charts. She has scored 70, 88, 5, 38, 41 and 55 in her last six innings and now has 400 runs in this year’s competition.

Elyse Villani: The Stars’ captain has hit 274 runs alongside Lee at the top of the batting order, including three half-centuries. That includes 113 runs in her last three innings.

MLSW Team Form

While they were consigned to finish outside of the top four a long time ago now, Melbourne Stars did at least record a much-needed second win of the season when they took on the Renegades in the first of this year’s Melbourne derbies. Lizelle Lee’s 62 led the chase of 166 to win – the Stars claiming a seven-wicket win with four balls to spare, as Erin Osborne also made a difference with her late hitting. Last time out, however, they fell short chasing 163 to be at Sydney Sixers, despite Mignon du Preez’s half-century. They finished on 144/5.

MLSW vs MLRW Dream11 Prediction

Wicket-keeper

Nicole Faltum has been behind the stumps for the Stars in recent matches and she is just eight credits, as is Josie Dooley for the Renegades. Despite her low cost, Dooley has amassed 222 points in this year’s tournament too.

Batsmen

Lizelle Lee starred when these teams last met and has been in good form in this tournament, while fellow South African Mignon du Preez has hit top form of late too. They are ten and 9.5 credits respectively, but they are also hard to ignore. Both Elyse Villani and Tammy Beaumont are 9.5 credits, but Villani has outscored the England international so far, as has in-form Jess Duffin – who is certainly worth picking at 8.5 credits. If you want to save even more credits, Anna Lanning is just eight credits and was in excellent batting form when these teams last met.

All-rounders

Danni Wyatt is ten credits but proved her importance with her excellent all-round performance in the Renegades’ vital win against Brisbane Heat last time out. With Sophie Molineux taking a break, the England ace is the best choice for all-rounder. Erin Osborne is nine credits and also looks top value, while Madeline Penna is worth picking up at just eight credits.

Bowlers

That leaves three spaces with the ball, and the Renegades’ wicket-taking pairing of Molly Strano and Maitlan Brown are nine and 8.5 credits respectively. Both are well worth picking up. Lea Tahuhu is their best known bowler, meanwhile, and she too is nine credits.

Captain/Vice-captain

Danni Wyatt led the Melbourne Renegades to victory last time out with a superb all-round showing to underline why she is a top pick for captain. Beyond her, Erin Osborne has quietly racked up more than 400 points this season, but the Stars most in-form player seems to be Mignon du Preez. The South African could be a good vice-captain, ahead of Lizelle Lee, Jess Duffin and Molly Strano.

Melbourne Renegades Women Team News & Playing 11

MLRW Team News

Melbourne Renegades stuck with the same team that lost to the Stars and they bounced back to winning ways against Brisbane Heat last time out. Anna Lanning has now played the last two matches in place of Sophie Molineux, who has taken a break for mental health reasons, and she could open the batting in an unchanged team again this time out.

MLRW Key Players

Jess Duffin: Another in good batting form, scoring an unbeaten half-century in the win against Brisbane Heat to follow up her unbeaten 35 when these teams last met. She now has 371 runs from ten innings, and has finished not out in four of those.

Danni Wyatt: Starred with bat and ball against Brisbane Heat, taking 2-26 and then hammering 87 with the bat. That was her fourth half-century of the tournament and lifted the English all-rounder to 418 runs at a strike rate of 129.81 so far.

Molly Strano: Wicketless in her last two matches, but she still has 15 wickets so far to sit top of the Renegades’ wicket-taking charts – one ahead of Maitlan Brown.

MLRW Team Form

Melbourne Renegades had lost two matches in a row, including the seven-wicket defeat to Melbourne Stars when these teams last met, but kept their top-four hopes alive with a win in their most recent match. Set 184 to beat Brisbane Heat, the Renegades – led by Danni Wyatt (87) and Jess Duffin (50*) secured a six-wicket win and a new WBBL record for the highest successful chase.
