Middlesex are favourites to win
Middlesex won their last match against Somerset by five wickets and are placed fourth in their group standings with 11 points from 10 games. The two teams will now face each other at Lord's Cricket Ground in London for the second time in this year's Natwest T20 Blast. Their skipper Dawid Malan is the leading run-scorer for them and his opening stand with Gubbins is going to be important. Eoin Morgan has good scores in the last couple of matches while Bailey and Simpson showed decent efforts with the bat in the last game. For Middlesex's batting to come off good, Malan, Morgan and Bailey will have to score big.
Fast bowler Toby Roland-Jones is going to be the key bowler for Middlesex. He has taken 12 wickets in 9 matches which the most by any bowler in the side and finished with figures of 3 for 24 in four overs in the last match against Somerset. James Fuller and Nathan Sowter also bagged two wickets apiece and if they are able to provide good support to Toby, Surrey could have a hard time scoring runs.
The power-packed opening pair of Roy and Finch will be expected to take their team off to a flier. While the former has has a century and a fifty thus far, the latter has two good scores including a fifty in the three innings. The middle order batting will depend mainly on Dominic Sibley and Chris Morris. Sibley has two fifties in the tournament while Morris is capable of hitting the long ones.
Morris and Sam Curren are likely to lead Surrey's bowling attack and the duo will be backed to rock Middlesex early on. Curren has been the most impressive of all the bowlers with 10 wickets in the tournament. Jade Dernbach claimed three wickets against Somerset and he can create a few problems for the Middlesex batsmen. Surrey will want these three to bowl well on Thursday.
Middlesex and Surrey have played five games against each other in the past with the latter having wins in four of them. The two teams have gone head-to-head two times at the Lord's and both have a win each. Middlesex's only victory came last year at this very ground when they beat Surrey by 43 runs. But while the hosts are coming with a win in their previous match, the visitors suffered a loss in their last match.
Although the performance of the two teams this year has been pretty much neck-and-neck, we predict Middlesex to emerge victorious at their home ground.
