Middlesex will take on Gloucestershire in the 2022 Vitality Blast. The game will be played at the Radlett Cricket Club starting at 16:30 local time on Thursday May 26th.

Middlesex had a disappointing campaign in 2021 and picked up only four wins across their South Group fixtures to finish above only Glamorgan. They had hoped to have Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi to boost their bowling attack but he has returned to his homeland to prepare for international commitments and will not be returning. In his place, Australia’s Jason Behrendorff has signed alongside countryman Chris Green and Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Steve Eskinazi hit a century and three fifties last season and plenty of runs will be expected again.

Gloucestershire missed out on qualifying for the quarter final stage by only one point last year and will be looking to make subtle improvements in this campaign. New Zealander Glenn Phillips plundered 500 runs at an average of 55.55 last season and we expect to see plenty of big hitting from him again this year. Pakistan’s Naseem Shah and Zafar Gohar are both excellent T20 players capable of winning a game by themselves. As ever, expect Gloucestershire’s homegrown players to be excellent and willing competitors with both bat and ball.
