Mumbai Indians with a better team composition have retained most of the players that won the last year's title. But they too have issues of their own as they clearly lack depth outside of their main XI.

Though Rising Pune Supergiants are a tough team to beat, it remains to be seen how the players of this newly formed team will gel together as a unit. Mumbai Indians are the reigning champions and with the Wankhede as their fortress, they will have a slight edge over Rising Pune Supergiants in the opening match on Saturday.
