MI Team News

Rohit Sharma returned from injury last time out, replacing Siddhesh Lad at the top of the order. Alzarri Joseph hurt his shoulder badly while fielding in Saturday's game against Rajasthan Royals. Lasith Malinga will probably be drafted into the playing eleven should Joseph is deemed unfit to play on match day. Quinton de Kock suffered dehydration last time but he is expected to be fit for this game.

MI Key Players

Quinton de Kock moved to 238 runs in seven innings with his second half-century of IPL 2019 in the defeat to Rajasthan Royals. The South African set the tone with 81 from 52 balls, including a 96-run opening partnership with Rohit Sharma (47).

Kieron Pollard fell short last time out, but his 46 from 26 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad and 83 from 31 balls against Kings XI Punjab highlighted his very best batting form.

Sharma has 165 runs from six innings and Suryakumar Yadav – last year’s Mumbai top scorer – has 154 runs.

Hardik Pandya has also put in some useful knocks – he has a strike rate of 183.95 after hammering an unbeaten 28 from 11 balls last time out. Pandya also has six wickets from seven matches.

Jasprit Bumrah is their leading wicket taker with eight wickets from seven matches, and he has an economy rate of 7.01 runs per over too.

MI Team Form

Mumbai’s three-match winning streak ended last time out with defeat to a Jos Buttler-inspired Rajasthan Royals. Quinton de Kock had hit 81 from 52 balls in a total of 187/5 but Rajasthan won by four wickets with three balls remaining.

They had previously beaten Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab in back-to-back games. Suryakumar Yadav top-scored in a 37-run win against the Super Kings, before Alzarri Joseph helped skittle Sunrisers Hyderabad for 96 in a 40-run win next up.

Kieron Pollard’s explosive batting then saw Mumbai chase 198 to beat Kings XI Punjab off the final ball, only for their winning streak to end at the Wankhede Stadium last time out. Mumbai have four wins from their first seven matches in total.

MI Predicted Playing 11

Rohit Sharma (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Rahul Chahar, Jason Behrendoff, Alzarri Joseph/Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah

RCB Team News & Playing 11

RCB Team News

Royal Challengers Bangalore opted for just three overseas players last time out, with Umesh Yadav replacing Tim Southee in the only change to their line-up. Nathan Coulter-Nile, who was due to link up with the squad ahead of the previous game, has been ruled out of the tournament. Dale Steyn is set to replace him but he will not be available for this game. Expect RCB to go with an unchanged line-up.

RCB Key Players

For the third consecutive match, Virat Kohli top-scored for Royal Challengers Bangalore last time out – the India captain hitting 67 from 53 balls. He now has 270 runs from seven matches, including two half-centuries. In his last three innings he has scored 84, 41 and 67 while he also hit 46 when Bangalore last met Mumbai.

AB de Villiers top-scored in that match, hitting 70* from 41 balls including six sixes. The South African scored an unbeaten 59 from 38 balls last time out, meanwhile. He has hit three half-centuries and 232 runs in total. His strike rate of 156.75 is also impressive.

Marcus Stoinis’ unbeaten 28 from 16 balls last time out takes him to 102 runs in four innings, meanwhile. He has only been dismissed once and also has a handy strike rate of 137.83 – getting back to the sort of form he showed in the Big Bash League.

Yuzvendra Chahal has led the bowling, meanwhile. He took 2-33 last time out and now has 11 wickets in seven matches with an economy rate of 7.07. Only Kagiso Rabada has more wickets so far in this year’s IPL.

RCB Team Form

Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their first six matches in this year’s IPL but Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers both hit half-centuries as they ended their losing streak by beating Kings XI Punjab last time out. Kohli scored 67 and De Villiers 59 as RCB chased 174 to win by eight wickets.

Kohli also top scored in the previous two matches – a four-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals, after they posted 149/8, and a five-wicket defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders despite the India captain’s 84 helping them set 205/3.
