Our Pick Melbourne Stars are favorites to win
Melbourne Stars will take on Brisbane Heat in the 2nd match of the Big Bash League. The match will be played on the Manuka Oval, Canberra and is all set to take place at 7:15 PM Local time
After a fabulous last season where they came second to Sydney Sixers in the finals, Melbourne Stars come into this tournament with great expectations. Brisbane Heat on the other hand would want to get rid off the blues after a disastrous 2019-20 season where they finished last in the points table. With new rules in place, this years BBL is all set for a cracking tournament.
Glen Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis were the two top performers for Melbourne Stars in the previous season and both of them are coming back from some scintillating performances in the past month. Once again, the form of these two superstars will determine the fate of Melbourne Stars.
In Glen Maxwell, Seb Gotch, Ben Dunk, Andre Fletcher and Will Pucovski, they poses a dangerous batting line up. All of them are match winners on their day but their consistency is something Melbourne Stars will be keeping their fingers crosses for.
For us, the most valuable batsmen for this Melbourne Stars team will be Nic Larkin who's been one of the most consistent performer in the tournament. Hilton Cartwright and Marcus Stonis add depth to this batting line up. Stoinis specially has been in terrific form, both with the bat and ball.
In Billy Stanlake, Adam Zampa, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Liam Hatcher, they have a decent bowling attack as well.
For Brisbane Heat, they're hammered in the previous edition but look a lot more balanced unit this time around. Their batting look exceptionally strong with Chris Lynn, Jimmy Pierson, Tom Cooper and Max Bryant in the fray.
Chris Lynn has been their highest run getter with 2332 runs in 75 matches and will be their main man with the bat. Tom Cooper is another player to watch out for.
In the bowling department, Ben Laughlin will be their ace pacer. He'll get support from young Australian pacers Xavier Barlet and Connor Sully. Laughlin has been one of their most consistent performers with 15 wickets in 13 games.
Mitchell Swepson will miss the match as he'll be the part of the warm up game against India. Mujeeb ur Rahman also won't be available for the first few games after testing positive for Covid-19. Jack Wood will most probably find a place in the squad in place of Swepson.
Looking at both teams, Melbourne Stars looks a slightly stronger but Brisbane Heat has traditionally dominated Melbourne Stars in this tournament so don't completely count them off.

It's a bat first wicket and both teams would want to call the coin right
The weather is not very promising with showers expected during the match
It's a good wicket to bat on, little slow but a belter.

It's the first match for the teams so their form is yet to be seen but on paper, Melbourne Stars have a very strong all round team with destructive batsmen and quality bowlers. They're our preferred pick for the match.
Wicket Keeper
Jimmy Pierson and Seb Gotch at 8.0 are cool picks. Both of them have a reputation of big hitters in the Australian domestic circuit. Seb Gotch has 323 runs in 27 matches in the BBL while Pierson has 836 runs in 60 matches at a strike rate of 123.
Batsmen
The destructive Chris Lynn is available for selection at 10.5 credits. He's one of the greats in this format of the game. He's the leading run scorer for Brisbane Heat and is a wonderful buy for you. Andre Fletcher is another batsmen that can be very dangerous. He'll available at 9.0 credits and must be there in your team. Tom Cooper at 9.0, Nic Larkin and Max Bryant at 8.5 will boost your batting strength. All of them hasn't played much cricket of late but their past past record in the tournament has been exceptional.
All rounder
Marcus Stonis at 10.5 and Glen Maxwell at 10 are two of the biggest players from both teams. Stoinis had a successful IPL but missed the T-20 series against India due to injury. Glenn Maxwell on the other hand had a miserable IPL but turned on his beast mode against India. Both are great selections
Bowlers
Adam Zampa was the leading wicket taker for Stars in the previous season and can be selected at 9.0 along with Ben Laughlin, who's been very consistent in this tournament at 9.0 and Nathan Coulter-Nile who was superb for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
Captain/Vice Captain
Chris Lynn is a great choice for the skipper as he's one player that can play real big innings. Glen Maxwell, the kind of form he's in, both with the bat and ball can be backed as his deputy.
Batsmen:Chris Lynn(C), Nic Larkin, Max Bryant
All Rounder:Glen Maxwell(VC), Marcus Stoinis, Dan Lawrence
Wicket Keeper:Jimmy Pierson, Seb Gotch
Bowler:Adam Zampa, Ben Laughlin, Nathan Coulter Nile
