The biggest team news to look forward to would be the injury update of Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson, whose shoulder injury during Test match against Bangladesh had cast clouds on his apperance in IPL. Williamson's shoulder injuy was making his IPL team and fans worried but as per the recent update from the SRH (Sunrisers Hyderabad) francise, Willaimson would be joining his IPL teammate ahead of the coming tournament. Though his arrival is adding ptimism among fans and team mates, it is yet not cleared if he would be palying the first match of SRH against KKR on 24th March. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad have kept the core of their squad from last year together, with David Warner back from his 2018 ban and looking to find form now his Australian ban has also ended. They also signed Vijay Shankar, Shahbaz Nadeem and Abhishek Sharma from Delhi Capitals, with Shikhar Dhawan moving the other way. Sunrisers only added two new faces at the auction but they were eye-catching signings – Jonny Bairstow and Martin Guptill. Wriddhiman Saha was also retained after initially being on their released list.

SRH Key Players

Kane Williamson won the orange cap last year for his superb batting form, scoring eight half-centuries on his way to 735 runs in 17 innings. The New Zealander returns again this year as part of a strong overseas batting contingent for the Sunrisers.

One of the most interesting of those will be David Warner, after being banned from last year’s tournament after the Australian ball-tampering scandal. Warner most recently played in the Bangladesh Premier League, where he hit three half-centuries for the Sylhet Sixers in seven matches.

Shakib Al Hasan was one of the stars of that tournament, meanwhile. He hit 301 runs from his 15 innings for eventual runners-up Dhaka Dynamites and led the bowling charts with 23 wickets.

The Bangladeshi all-rounder will form part of the spin-bowling attack with Rashid Khan, who took 19 wickets in 14 games at the Big Bash League – with an economy rate as low as 6.14 – and then took wickets across all three formats for Afghanistan against Ireland – including 11 in three T20s. Rashid took 21 wickets for Sunrisers last season, meanwhile – the same as Siddarth Kaul.If the four overseas players mentioned above all play, Jonny Bairstow, Martin Guptill and Mohammad Nabi will all be sidelined, which only serves to highlight Sunrisers’ strength in depth.

Sunrisers Hyderabad topped last season’s IPL table despite losing their last three matches, having previously won nine of the first 11 games.

Their loss of form continued into the play-offs, however. They lost to Chennai Super Kings in the first qualifier – suffering a two-wicket defeat despite Rashid Khan claiming 2-11 as they bid to defend 139/7. In the second qualifier, Khan’s 3-19 helped them to  14-run win against Kolkata Knight Riders – after posting 174/7 – but they lost against to Chennai in the final. On that occasion, they posted 178/6 but the Super Kings stormed to an eight-wicket win with nine balls to spare.
