This is the second of back-to-back matches between Mumbai and Kolkata, with the former winning by 13 runs at the Wankhede last time out.
Suryakumar Yadav's half-century set the tone for Mumbai, and also moved him second in the race for the orange cap on 399 runs in this year's tournament.
Hardik Pandya was man of the match, however, scoring a brisk 35 not out with the bat before returning bowling figures of 2-19 from his four overs as Mumbai recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Nitish Rana returned after missing the win against Chennai Super Kings with a back spasm, with Rinku Singh dropping out. Kolkata also experimented with the batting line-up last time out as Shubman Gill opened the batting and Sunil Narine – who Robin Uthappa says has been bowling better than he has been batting this season – dropped down the order. With Shivam Mavi out with a finger injury, Karnataka pace bowler Prasidh Krishna was handed his IPL debut last time out and could continue at Eden Gardens.
Key Players
Andre Russell took 2/12 from two overs with the ball in the reverse fixture at the Wankhede, and the West Indian all-rounder has contributed well with either bat or ball throughout most of this year’s tournament. He now has six wickets in his last four matches, while he has scored 216 from eight innings with the bat with a high score of 88 not out and two further knocks in the 40s. Fellow West Indian all-rounder Sunil Narine has impressed with the ball, meanwhile, as Robin Uthappa eluded too. His two wickets in the previous match took his to 12 for the tournament so far, and he has been particularly impressive at Eden Gardens where he has taken eight of those. Uthappa himself scored 54 off 35 balls in the last match but the Knight Riders’ leading batsman so far is Dinesh Karthik, with 316 runs from his ten innings so far. Chris Lynn has hit 277, including two half-centuries, opening the batting.
Recent Form
Defeat to Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium was Kolkata’s first in three matches, having beaten Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings in the previous two, both by six wickets. Against Chennai, they needed just 17.4 overs to reach 178 to win, but at the Wankhede they fell 13 runs short of Mumbai’s 181/4 despite Robin Uthappa’s half-century.

Team News
Mumbai have been unchanged personnel-wise in their last two matches, and are likely to make it three in a row when they face Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. That will mean no Kieron Pollard, who has been dropped after a below-par season. The most notable changes last time out were to the batting order, with Rohit Sharma moving up to number three, Hardik Pandya batting at four and Ishan Kishan dropping down the order. After successfully posting 181/4, and then defending it well in the death overs, Mumbai are likely to repeat the same team and batting line-up at Eden Gardens.
Key Players
Suryakumar Yadav’s half-century against Kolkata Knight Riders in the reverse fixture took him to 399 runs from his ten innings so far this season. His fourth half-century leaves him second, just 24 runs behind Ambati Rayudu, in the race for the orange cap. Evin Lewis weighed in with 43 from 28 balls in their opening partnership of 91 from 9.2 overs, and he is now the team’s second highest scorer this year with 247 in total. Captain Rohit Sharma has been inconsistent, but still managed to hammer 231 runs, including 94 from 52 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Hardik Pandya is their in-form player, however – his man of the match award for 35* with the bat and 2/19 with the ball continuing his good recent contributions. Against Royal Challengers Bangalore he scored 50 and took 3/28, and he is currently top of the bowling charts with 14 wickets at an average of 16.78 – one more wicket than team-mate Mayank Markande has managed. Markande does, however, have a four-wicket haul to his name this season.
Recent Form
Mumbai Indians have won their last two matches and three of their last four in total to put a bad start to the season firmly behind them. After a string of narrow defeats in the final over – including losing their first two games by just one wicket – they finally turned things around when Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten 56 fired them to an eight-wicket win against Chennai Super Kings. Though they lost their next game by 14 runs to Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai then beat Kings XI Punjab by six wickets and followed it up with the 13-run defeat of Kolkata in their last match. Suryakumar Yadav has passed 50 in each of his last two innings.
Following Sunday's win, Mumbai Indians have now won 17 of their 22 matches against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Hardik Pandya was man of the match last time out for his contributions with both bat and ball in Mumbai's 13-run win, and he also impressed last time these two teams faced each other by taking 2-22 from his four overs. Those figures were key, as Mumbai successfully defended 173/5 to win by nine runs.
Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians Betting Odds
Despite their poor record in this fixture, and the defeat last time out, and Mumbai Indians' return to form themselves, Kolkata have been made favourites by the bookmakers. That's a surprise, despite their home advantage, given Mumbai Indians have finally gained some momentum as they make a charge a play-off place. Bet365 have Kolkata at 1.80 and Betfair have priced the Knight Riders at 1.83 to win. Both are offering 2.00 on a Mumbai Indians win.
With the current second-highest run scorer in this year's competition opening for Mumbai Indians, it could be worthwhile backing Suryakumar Yadav to be his team's top scorer at a best price of 4.33 with Bet365. He has scored half-centuries in each of the last two matches.
Mumbai also boast the first and second-highest wicket takers in this year's competition too. Hardik Pandya was man of the match at the Wankhede and is 5.00 with Bet365 and Betfair to be Mumbai Indians' best bowler. Mayank Markande is 4.33 with both.
For the hosts, Robin Uthappa top scored in the last game but Shubman Gill's move up the order means you could see some profit at a price of 5.50 on Gill being Kolkata Knight Riders' top scorer with Betfair.
Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians Prediction
Kolkata Knight Riders may be playing at home, but with Mumbai Indians back in form and traditionally dominant in this fixture, it is difficult to bet against the visitors. They continued their momentum last time out with a 13-run win, and they can upset the odds to claim another on Wednesday.
Final Verdict: Back Mumbai Indians to beat Kolkata Knight Riders at 2.00 with Bet365 and Betfair.
