Sunil Narine’s finger has healed which means Kolkata Knight Riders don't have any more injury issues to deal with ahead of their match against the Kings XI Punjab. They are coming on the back of an impressive win over last year's runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad and so they may not be too keen on tweaking their winning combination. Medium pacer Prasidh Krishna had an ordinary outing last time, conceding 31 runs off his four overs, but he will probably get a few more opportunities. Nitish Rana had to open the innings with Chris Lynn last time due to Narine's finger injury. But now that the West Indian all-rounder is fully fit again, KKR could opt for their regular opening combination of Lynn and Narine and push Rana down the order.

Chris Lynn and Nitish Rana will be the key men for Kolkata Knight Riders when it comes to batting. Lynn is one of the world's most destructive white-ball batsmen and KKR will find themselves in a commanding position if he gets going on Wednesday. Rana smashed 68 against Sunrisers Hyderabad and he will look to carry that form into this match. Dinesh Karthik fell cheaply last time and he is expected to bounce back with a good knock against KXIP. Andre Russell was impressive with both bat and ball, first picking up a couple of wickets and then blasting an unbeaten 49 off just 19 balls. The West Indian all-rounder could once again put up a match-winning performance for his team. Kuldeep Yadav, Sunil Narine and Lockie Ferguson are the others in this line-up to watch out for with the ball. Kuldeep was a little off target last time but he will continue to be KKR’s go-to man in the middle overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders had a pretty successful season last year where they finished third in the standings at the end of the league stage with eight wins and six defeats from fourteen matches. They beat Rajasthan Royals comfortably by 25 runs in the Eliminator but were then knocked out of the tournament with a 14-run loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2. KKR have avenged that defeat by securing a six-wicket win over SRH in their IPL 2019 campaign opener at home on Sunday.

Sam Curran was expensive in the last game and he is likely to be replaced by Australia's Andrew Tye who could open the bowling with Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the powerplay. Mandeep Singh and Nicholas Pooran are also likely to make room for Karun Nair and David Miller in the playing eleven.
