Kent Spitfires won the 2021 Vitality Blast, their second T20 Blast title, but were beaten by last year’s losing finalists Somerset on Wednesday evening. Essex Eagles won their first ever T20 Blast title in 2019, the same year they won the County Championship, but they have failed to get out of the South Group in both seasons since. In 2021, they won only five games and finished the league in seventh place. Australian Daniel Sams has been brought to the club for this season and he should add to an already powerful bowling attack. With the bat, expect England’s Dan Lawrence, who hit a century against Lancashire last week, to show off his attacking skills.
