Karachi Kings Team News & Playing 11

KRK Team News

As expected, Karachi tweaked their line-up for their first game in Karachi this season, replacing Aaron Summers in the bowling line-up. Sohail Khan returned in his place and, with an extra overseas slot therefore freed up, Ben Dunk also returned to the side.

KRK Key Players

Babar Azam's half-century against Quetta Gladiators was his third of PSL 2019 season – his total of 56 at the top of the order taking him to 280 runs so far.

He is now just five runs behind Liam Livingstone, with whom he set the PSL-record partnership in the opening game. The big-hitting Englishman has also hit three half-centuries so far and top-scored in the previous two games.

Colin Ingram has hit 250 runs so far, meanwhile, including his century against Quetta Gladiators, and all three sit inside the top ten in the PSL 2019 batting charts.

With the ball, Usman Shinwari returned to the team with a four-wicket haul against Multan Sultans and then bowled the superb, match-winning final over last time out in which he claimed three wickets. Umer Khan dismissed Shane Watson, Rilee Rossouw and Umar Akmal last time to move to 13 in this year’s tournament so far.

KRK Team Form

Karachi have now won their last three games in a row, with two bowling performances earning them victory against Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans before a thrilling victory in a high-scoring contest with Quetta Gladiators.

Against the Qalandars, Liam Livingstone led the chase of 134 to claim a five-wicket win, while the Lancashire batsman was top scorer again – hitting a half-century – to lead a chase of 119 to beat the Sultans. Usman Shinwari had earlier helped restrict the Sultans to 118/7.

Last time out, Babar Azam’s half-century helped them to 190/5 against Quetta Gladiators. In reply, Umer Khan took 3-26 and Usman Shinwari took three wickets in the final over as they claimed a one-run win.

Peshawar Zalmi Team News & Playing 11

PSZ Team News

Misbah-ul-Haq returned to the team to score a half-century last time out, while Tymal Mills stepped into the starting line-up to take three wickets. Both could retain their places as Zalmi look to build some momentum heading into the play-offs.

PSZ Key Players

Hasan Ali has dropped to second in the wicket-taking charts following Faheem Ashraf’s stunning bowling for Islamabad, but he still has 18 wickets in nine games. One of his three four-wicket hauls came in the previous meeting with Karachi Kings.

Wahab Riaz has 11 wickets, meanwhile – outshone by his team-mate in many respects but still a vital part of Zalmi’s successful seam attack.

Misbah-ul-Haq led the way with the bat last time out, meanwhile – scoring 59* in his first match since finishing unbeaten on 49* in the first game of this season. Imam-ul-Haq is still their top run scorer, however, with two half-centuries and 198 runs so far – 12 runs ahead of Kieron Pollard, who has also passed 50 twice.

PSZ Team Form

Peshawar Zalmi had won three matches in a row before defeat to Quetta Gladiators – for the second time this season – halted their winning streak. Zalmi posted what looked a competitive 165/4, with Kamran Akmal scoring 72 of them, but they lost by eight wickets with 2.2 overs remaining.

Last time out, however, Zalmi bounced back – Tymal Mills took 3-29 to restrict Lahore Qalandars to 124/7 and Misbah-ul-Haq guided Peshawar to a four-wicket win with an unbeaten 59 from 55 balls.
