Jamaica Tallawahs Team News & Playing 11

Team News

Oshane Thomas replaced Kemar Roach in the only change from Jamaica Tallawahs’ opening night win and, after claiming 3-39, it is likely the West Indies A star will keep his place in an unchanged line-up against the Patriots. Roach was hooked after conceding 64 runs from his four overs in the opening game. David Miller, Steven Taylor and Samuel Badree are yet to feature in this year’s tournament.

Key Players

Andre Russell continued the good form he showed with West Indies and, prior to that, in the Global T20 Canada when he shone in Jamaica’s opening game of the 2018 tournament. He marked his return to the CPL with a hat-trick before smashing an unbeaten 121 from 49 balls – including 13 sixes – to lead the Tallawahs to victory.

Glenn Phillips starred with the bat last time out, however, sharing an opening partnership of 81 with Johnson Charles in a 40-ball 58 that included six sixes. Rovman Powell then continued where Phillips left off with an unbeaten 43 from 23 balls to lead the Tallawahs to victory.

With the ball, in addition to Russell’s five wickets across the opening two matches, Adam Zampa has claimed four with his leg-spin – taking 3-27 from his four overs against St Lucia Stars last time out.

Oshane Thomas claimed 3-39 in his first appearance of this year’s competition, meanwhile, and Imad Wasim has been economical – going at less than a run a ball from his eight overs bowled so far, thanks to 23 dot balls across the two games.

Team Form

After losing in the play-offs following a third place finish last season, a much-changed Jamaica Tallawahs side opened this year’s competition in stunning style – or, rather, captain Andre Russell did. Russell dismissed Brendan McCullum, Darren Bravo and Dinesh Ramdin to claim a hat-trick in the final over of the Trinbago Knight Riders as they posted 223/6. In reply, the Tallawahs were 16/4 after 21 balls and 41/5 when Russell came to the crease. He promptly smashed an unbeaten 121 from 49 balls, sharing a 161-run partnership with Kennar Lewis (51) as Jamaica reached their target with three balls to spare.

Against St Lucia Stars last time out, meanwhile, the Tallawahs bowled their visitors out for 175 from the final ball of the innings – Adam Zampa and Oshane Thomas both claiming three wickets. Johnson Charles (31) and Glenn Phillips (58) then got the reply off to the perfect start, scoring 81 in the first eight overs, before Rovman Powell finished the job with a breezy 43 not out – sealing a six-wicket win with two balls to spare.

St Kitts & Nevis Team News & Playing 11

Team News

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots made two changes after their opening night defeat for the win against Trinbago Knight Riders, and they may be tempted to make another with Evin Lewis’ poor form at the top of the order continuing. The West Indian opener may be given one last chance to recapture his best form with the bat, however.

Mahmudullah and Jeremiah Louis all came into the side last time out, with Braithwaite unlucky not to be named man of the match after a superb all-round performance. That means Brandon King and Alzarri Joseph are likely to be sitting this one out too.

Key Players

Chris Gayle scored 86 in the opening game – the only Patriots’ batsman to pass 15 against the Guyana Amazon Warriors – and he followed that effort up with 35 from 30 balls, including three sixes, last time out.

Devon Thomas was named man of the match against the Trinbago Knight Riders, however, thanks to his 34-ball 58 – though Carlos Braithwaite’s contribution with bat and ball meant he was unlucky to be overlooked. Braithwaite smashed five sixes in a 15-ball 41 as the Patriots scored 62 runs in the final four overs and then claimed stunning figures of 2-19 from his four overs – including a maiden.

Braithwaite had previously taken nine wickets in five games for Kent in this year’s T20 Blast and is clearly in good form. He was not the only bowler to star against Trinbago Knight Riders either, with Sandeep Lamichhane also bowling a maiden as he claimed 1-17 from three overs to follow his 2-12 from four overs in the opening game.

Team Form

Last year’s runners-up started the 2018 Caribbean Premier League with a defeat, after posting just 146/5 against Guyana Amazon Warriors despite Chris Gayle’s 86. Guyana reached the target with 21 balls to spare despite Sandeep Lamichhane’s economical bowling in a six-wicket Patriots defeat.

They bounced back last time out, however, to thrash the Trinbago Knight Riders. Gayle (35), Devon Thomas (58) and Carlos Braithwaite (42) were all in the runs in a total of 203/7 – with the latter’s explosive hitting ensuring the innings ended on a high.

And Braithwaite was then one of three bowlers to claim two wickets, alongside Ben Cutting and Jeremiah Louis, while Lamichhane and Braithwaite also both bowled maidens in economical spells with the ball, as the Knight Riders finished 42 runs short.

St Kitts & Nevis Predicted Playing 11

Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Tom Cooper, Devon Thomas, Anton Devcich, Mahmudullah, Carlos Braithwaite, Ben Cutting, Sheldon Cottrell, Sandeep Lamichanne, Jeremiah Louis

Jamaica Tallawahs vs St Kitts & Nevis Head to Head

Jamaica Tallawahs have won four of their six matches against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots but both sides won one game apiece in last year’s Caribbean Premier League.

In the first match, at Basseterre, Chris Gayle (71) and Evin Lewis (69) shared an opening stand of 110 in 12.3 overs as the Patriots posted 208/3. The Tallawahs could only reach 171/7 in reply.

Last time out at Sabina Park, however, the Tallawahs’ 157/5 proved to be a winning score as Oshane Thomas and Krishmar Santokie both claimed three wickets apiece. Lewis scored 40 from 17 balls but the Patriots then collapsed to 116 all out to lose by 41 runs.

Jamaica Tallawahs vs St Kitts & Nevis Betting Odds

Bet365 have made unbeaten Jamaica Tallawahs 1.80 favourites to beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, with the visitors available to back at 2.00.

The Patriots’ batting and bowling depth shone through last time out, however, and they are worth backing, especially if Chris Gayle (3.60 to be their top scorer) continues his fine form at the top of the order.

Andre Russell is 7.50 to top score for the Tallawahs because of his low position in the batting order, with Johnson Charles (4.50) and Glenn Phillips (4.00) possibly safer bets if they share another big opening partnership.

The key will be with the ball, however. The Tallawahs have been expensive so far, whereas Sandeep Lamichhane (4.00 to be the Patriots’ top bowler) and Carlos Braithwaite (5.00) were in excellent form last time out for St Kitts and Nevis.

One player out of form is Evin Lewis, meanwhile. He is 1.83 to score under 32.5 performance points. He has scored one run in his last two innings and only taken one catch. In fact, his last four T20 innings have seen him score 2, 1, 1 and 0. If his poor form continues, that is a price worth backing.

🏆 Jamaica Tallawahs vs St Kitts & Nevis Prediction

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots got back to winning ways last time out and, while Jamaica are unbeaten so far, this is their toughest game of the tournament so far. If Carlos Braithwaite and co continue their fine form, the Patriots can upset the hosts at Sabina Park.

Final Verdict: Back St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to beat Jamaica Tallawahs at 2.00 with Bet365.
