Jamaica Tallawahs are favorites to win
Jamaica Tallawahs will take on St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in Match 2 of the 6ixty. The game will be played at Warner Park Sporting Complex, Basseterre Muscat starting at 12:30 local time on Thursday 25th August.
At first glance, the Tallawahs look to have one of the strongest groups of players in this competition and we expect them to be fighting it out at the top of the table. 29 year old batter and West Indian international Rovman Powell will lead the team. He has proved to be one of the most talented white ball batters across multiple formats over the last 12 months and will be captaining a fine group of team-mates. Brandon King and Shamarh Brooks have both had strong moments across this summer season for West Indies with the bat. Nepalese spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has a fantastic franchise record and we look forward to seeing him perform in this match.
St Kitts & Nevis are another team with an impressive squad assembled ahead of this tournament. They will be captained by 42 year old Chris Gayle who will no doubt look to deal in boundaries only in his innings in this game. Bowlers Sheldon Cottrell and Dominic Drakes should cause problems with their speed, accuracy and left-arm over the wicket angle. Alongside them in the bowling attack, Afghanistan’s 18 year old Izharulhaq Naveed is well worth keeping an eye on. The leg-spinner will probably not play every game but he turns the ball a long way and will be able to highlight any batter with a boor technique against spine.
The match will be played at Warner Park Sporting Complex, Basseterre. Expect the quick bowlers to enjoy bowling on this surface but expect spinners to also get plenty of turn.
