Islamabad United vs Quetta Gladiators Match Prediction, PSL 2020
Defending champions Quetta Gladiators kick off the 2020 Pakistan Super League at Karachi’s National Stadium when they take on Islamabad United in the opening game of this season’s tournament. The match takes place on February 20.
Quetta Gladiators beat Peshawar Zalmi in last year’s final, with Shane Watson finishing the tournament as top run-scorer with 430 runs in 12 innings. The Australian returns this season alongside other big-hitters such as England’s Jason Roy, while they also have teenage star Naseem Shah in their squad.
Islamabad United, meanwhile, were beaten in the final eliminator play-off last season, ending their title defence just short of the final. The 2018 champions have retained key players such as Luke Ronchi and Faheem Ashraf for the coming season, however.

Both teams won the toss and fielded first in their most recent matches at Karachi’s National Stadium and they could both look to do the same at the start of this season.
A week of clear, sunny skies over Karachi will ensure the pitch is in good shape for the first game of the 2020 PSL, and conditions should be similarly warm and dry for the opening match.
The Karachi National Stadium is usually good for batting, particularly in white-ball cricket, and the hot, dry weather should ensure it plays to expectations.

ISU Team News
Though they retained the services of key players such as Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Asif Ali and Luke Ronchi, Islamabad United have made some big changes ahead of this year’s tournament. Dale Steyn, Colin Ingram and Colin Munro all arrive, while Dawid Malan has been signed to replace another new acquisition – Rassie van der Dussen – who is not available for this year’s tournament.
ISU Key Players
Luke Ronchi: Top runscorer as Islamabad United won the title in 2018, the big-hitting opener remains a key T20 opener with a strike rate of 153.31 in the format.
Asif Ali: Proved his big-hitting capabilities with scores of 55* and 39* down the order for Dhaka Platoon at the Bangladesh Premier League. He boasts a T20 strike rate of 149.19.
Shadab Khan: A wicket apiece in his two T20 internationals for Pakistan against Bangladesh continued the form he had showed for Dhaka Platoon in the BPL. He has ten wickets in his last seven T20 matches and a generally good economy rate too.
ISU Team Form
Islamabad United went into last season’s tournament as defending champions and finished third in the league phase to enter the play-offs. QTG Team News
Jason Roy, Ben Cutting and Fawad Ahmed are among the key new signings for Quetta Gladiators this PSL 2020 season, with the Englishman flying straight across from South Africa – where he has been with the England team – to play in this tournament. Keemo Paul’s international commitments mean he has been replaced as a supplementary player by Zahid Mahmood for the start of the tournament. Umar Akmal, meanwhile, has been handed suspension by the PCB for violating the anti-corruption code and he will only be able to participate in the PSL if he is not found guilty of any wrongdoing. The Gladiators are yet to announce Akmal's replacement.
QTG Key Players
Shane Watson: The big-hitting opener was in good form at the top of the order last season, hitting 430 runs in 12 innings to help the Gladiators to the title. He remains a key option in T20 cricket.
Fawad Ahmed: Could be an under-rated re-acquisition having showed some good form in T20 cricket despite having turned 38 earlier this month. His good form for Perth Scorchers took him past 100 wickets in T20 cricket.
Naseem Shah: Burst onto the scene in test cricket with his five-wicket haul against Sri Lanka and his hat-trick against Bangladesh. Turning 17 just ahead of the tournament, this could be another breakthrough moment for the Pakistani paceman.
QTG Team Form
Quetta Gladiators won last year’s tournament, beating Peshawar Zalmi in the final. They finished behind them on net run rate in the table, but beat them in the qualifier play-off as Shane Watson hit 71 from 43 balls, and then chased 139 to win the final by eight wickets.
Quetta Gladiators Predicted Playing 11
Shane Watson, Jason Roy, Ahmed Shehzad, Ahsan Ali, Khurram Manzoor, Sarfaraz Ahmed (c/wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Tymal Mills, Mohammad Hasnain, Naseem Shah, Fawad Ahmed

Islamabad United vs Quetta Gladiators Prediction
Quetta Gladiators have retained the core of their title-winning team and they can start this year’s tournament by exerting their dominance against Islamabad United.
Back Quetta Gladiators to beat Islamabad United at 2.10 with Bet365 and 2.00 with Betway.
Luke Ronchi was Islamabad United’s top man in 2018 and the big-hitting opener will be keen to prove there is plenty left in the tank yet as he bids to take on a leading role again. He will certainly expect to be more prominent than Sarfaraz Ahmed for Quetta Gladiators.
Shane Watson is 10.5 credits but he was the key man last season and that will prove good value if he delivers again this time out. Jason Roy arrives on the back of some good form for England too, and the big-hitting opener is 9.5 credits. Fellow England international Dawid Malan has a point to prove after a frustrating tour of South Africa and he is 9.5 credits, while if you want to spread costs a little, Ahmed Shehzad could be a good option at 8.5 credits. Otherwise, Colin Munro (9.5 credits) or Colin Ingram and Asif Ali (both 9 credits) are good options.
Faheem Ashraf was a key wicket-taker last season and Shadab Khan is another important bowler for Islamabad United. Both are nine credits but worth selecting. Mohammad Nawaz is 8.5 credits, as is Hussain Talat, but the Quetta man could be the top pick.
That leaves three bowling spaces and, at nine credits, Fawad Ahmed is the top-priced pick of those. His T20 bowling form has been as good as ever lately. At 8.5 credits, meanwhile, you may need to gamble a little. Will Tymal Mills and Dale Steyn be fit? Will teenager Naseem Shah make an impact? Perhaps one of those three, plus Mohammad Hasnain offers a suitable balance.
Shane Watson was key at the top of the order for Quetta Gladiators last season, but Jason Roy arrives in the better form. With the ball, meanwhile Fawad Ahmed is a top wicket-taker and any one of the three all-rounders represents a good alternative too.
