Islamabad United Team News & Playing 11

ISU Team News

Injuries forced Islamabad United into a couple of changes last time out. After hitting a half-century previously, Ian Bell will miss the rest of the tournament due to a foot injury. He was replaced by all-rounder Wayne Parnell last time out. Rumman Raees also returned to the starting line-up after Mohammad Sami missed out injured – Shadab Khan leading the team in his absence.

ISU Key Players

Luke Ronchi hit a half-century when these teams last met and was back to his best last time out when he hit an unbeaten 67 from 35 balls in the win against Karachi Kings. Last season’s PSL top scorer currently has 166 runs from five innings.

Samit Patel added an unbeaten 45 last time out, meanwhile, while Asif Ali and Hussain Talat have chipped in with useful contributions. Talat came into the tournament on the back of his runs for Pakistan against South Africa.

Faheem Ashraf continued his good all-round form, meanwhile. He took 3-26 in the win against Karachi Kings, to follow his 2-32 against Peshawar Zalmi. He hit an unbeaten 20 with the bat last time these teams met, meanwhile, and was man of the match on the opening night too.

ISU Team Form

Islamabad United bounced back from consecutive defeats by winning their last two matches, beating Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings to move to three wins in five games so far in PSL 2019 season

They started the tournament with a five-wicket win against Lahore Qalandars, successfully chasing 172 to win, but fell short in their next two matches. First, a score of 125/7 against Multan Sultans, despite Luke Ronchi’s half-century, was well below par in a five-wicket defeat and they then failed to defend 157/8 in a seven-wicket loss to Quetta Gladiators.

Ian Bell led the recovery – he scored a half-century against Peshawar Zalmi in a total of 158/9 before Muhammad Musa (3-25) and Mohammad Sami (3-22, including a hat-trick in the final over) helped them to a 12-run win.
Last time out, Faheem Ashraf took 3-26 as they restricted Karachi Kings to 143/6 before Luke Ronchi’s unbeaten 67 from 35 balls led Islamabad to a seven-wicket win.

Islamabad United Predicted Playing 11

Multan Sultans Team News & Playing 11

MS Team News

Shahid Afridi replaced the younger Mohammad Irfan last time out to return to the side, while Johnson Charles hit a half-century after replacing Laurie Evans. Chris Green also returned, in place of Andre Russell, but Multan Sultans may make more changes as they look to end their current losing streak.

MS Key Players

Shoaib Malik is Multan Sultans leading run scorer so far, with 168 from his first five innings including two half-centuries. He was their top scorer in each of the first three games, including scoring an unbeaten 31 in the win against Islamabad United.

James Vince hit 84 from 41 balls in the defeat to Lahore Qalandars, meanwhile, and shared a 135-run partnership with Umar Siddiq (53). When Vince fell cheaply, Johnson Charles hit 53 from 34 balls last time out, meanwhile. If all four of those fire, plus with all-rounders Dan Christian and Shahid Afridi next to come in, Multan Sultans have plenty of potential in that top order.

Christian also took 2-22 with the ball last time out, while Junaid Khan moved to eight wickets in four games when he claimed 2-27 against Peshawar Zalmi – following up the form he also showed in the Bangladesh Premier League.

MS Team Form

Multan Sultans have not won since beating Islamabad United in their previous meeting. They have lost three in a row since to leave them with just that one win to their name from five matches.

Shoaib Malik top-scored in each of the first three matches, but half-centuries against Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators could not prevent two defeats. A total of 176/9 was seven runs short against Karachi, while they could not defend 160/9 on their way to an eight-wicket defeat to Quetta.

In between came the win against Islamabad – Malik leading the chase of 126 to win with an unbeaten 31 in a five-wicket win.

James Vince led the way against Lahore Qalandars – he hit 84 from 41 balls and shared a 135-run opening partnership with Umar Siddiq (53) as they posted 200/6 – but the Qalandars sealed a six-wicket win off the final ball.

Last time out, Johnson Charles hit a half-century against Peshawar Zalmi but the Sultans were all out for 145 on their way to a five-wicket defeat.

Multan Sultans Predicted Playing 11

Umar Siddiq, James Vince, Johnson Charles, Shoaib Malik, Andre Russell, Dan Christian, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Irfan, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Ilyas
