India beat Australia in their final group stage match to advance to the knockout stage. The runner-up of Group 2 will now take on the West Indies, winner of Group 1, in the second semi-final of the ICC World Twenty20 2016. The match will be played on March 31 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and live action is scheduled to commence at 7 PM local time. Both the teams secured six points each, winning three of their four group games. This will be a battle of nerves and the team that keeps its cool will go on to reach the final.

Virat Kohli's heroic knock of 82 not-out from 51 balls steered the hosts into the semis. The batsman is currently at No. 3 in the list of most runs in the tournament. He going through the form of his life and is an obvious bet to top score again. Skipper MS Dhoni has been playing a good supporting role to Kohli throughout this World T20 and has been a great finisher of the innings. But except these two batsmen, the rest have all failed to click and India will need to address this issue ahead of their clash with the West Indies.
The Indian bowling has been impressive so far. They will, however, be a spinner short as Yuvraj Singh has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. He could be replaced by batsman Manish Pandey. Ravindra Jadeja has taken four wickets with an economy rate of just under 6. The spinner should be worth wagering on against the Windies as he is expected to be the top Indian bowler. Seamer Hardik Pandya has also taken four wickets but has been very expensive. Ravichandran Ashwin could open the bowling for India and is likely to dismiss Chris Gayle.

Their batting line-up features plenty of power-hitters which makes them a dangerous side in the shortest format. Chris Gayle showed his class in the game against England, smashing an unbeaten 100 off just 48 balls. But his average record against India suggests Andre Fletcher as a better betting option. He scored an unbeaten 84 against Sri Lanka and is currently the top run-scorer for his side. Marlon Samuels is the next best batsmen after Fletcher and Gayle. The all-rounder has been amongst the runs and has high betting odds in his favor. Andre Russell and Skipper Darren Sammy will be expected to flex their muscles in the death overs.
Andre Russell has been the most successful bowler for the West Indies. With seven wickets in this World T20, he is the leading wicket-taker for his side and a worthy bet to grab the maximum Indian wickets. Samuel Badree's legbreaks have also been very effective. He has taken six wickets, the same as Dwayne Bravo, with an outstanding economy rate of 5.46. Sulieman Benn has an even better economy rate of 4.93 but just does not strike nearly as often as Badree or Bravo. Part-time spinners Marlon Samuels and Chris Gayle will try to sneak in some quiet overs mid-way through the Indian innings.
Final Prediction
The two teams have met each other in four T20Is and both have won two games each. Three of these games have been World T20 fixtures with the West Indies leading 2-1. The most recent World T20 match between the two sides was won by India in 2014. Though the Windies began the tournament in style, Sunday's unexpected loss to Afghanistan could hamper their much-gained confidence. Their middle-order batsmen have been a little too tentative against a quality spin attack which gives India an advantage. Also, their ability to win games without the contribution from Chris Gayle is highly questionable.
India, on the other hand, are now back on the winning ways after their humiliating defeat in the opening match against New Zealand. Knocking out Australia in a tough situation will certainly boost their morale going into the semis. India, therefore, seems to have the upper hand when they take on the West Indies in the second semi-final on Thursday.
