India Team News & Playing 11
IND Team News
The Indian team has been dealt an injury blow ahead of the upcoming T20I series with opening batsmen Shikhar Dhawan ruled out of the entire series due to a knee injury sustained during a domestic T20 game. The left-hander has been replaced by wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson in the 15-man squad. This series will see the return of pace bowlers Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar along with spinner Kuldeep Yadav and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Virat Kohli, who was rested for the series against Bangladesh, also returns to the T20 set-up.
IND Key Players
Rohit Sharma: He is India's best batsman in T20Is having scored 2539 runs in 101 matches at an average of 32.13. Rohit has 4 centuries and 18 fifties to his name in the format and he struck 85 off 43 balls in the second T20I against Bangladesh last month.
Virat Kohli: The captain is the second-highest run-getter for India in the 20-over format. He is averaging 50 and has cracked 22 half-centuries. He skipped the T20I series against Bangladesh and will be raring to go out in the middle and lead from the front.
Yuzvendra Chahal: He is a street-smart cricketer and will pose the biggest threat with the ball to the West Indian batsmen. The leg-spinner is one of India's best bowlers with 50 wickets (two four-wicket hauls and one fifer) in 34 T20Is. Chahal recently claimed 3-27 while playing for Haryana in a domestic T20 game.
IND Recent Form
India have blown hot and cold this year in the shortest format of the game. They have played 13 T20 internationals this year out of which they have won seven and lost six. However, they do have six wins in their last eight matches. Their previous T20I assignment came last month against Bangladesh at home; it was a series of three matches which the hosts won 2-1. After going down in the first game, India bounced back to win both the remaining fixtures and clinch the series.
India Predicted Playing 11
Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli (c), Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wk), Manish Pandey, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal
West Indies Team News & Playing 11
WI Team News
West Indies have left out pace bowler Alzarri Joseph and batsman Shai Hope from their 15-man T20I squad. Denesh Ramdin has returned to the side after recovering from his hamstring injury and so has Fabian Allen who was ruled out of the previous series against Afghanistan after injuring his knee in the opening game. Also making his way back is wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran who missed the Afghanistan T20I series due to a suspension for ball-tampering.
WI Key Players
Evin Lewis: He is the only West Indian to be featuring among the top ten batsmen in the ICC T20I rankings. The left-handed opener topped the runs charts last month in the series against Afghanistan. Lewis smashed a 41-ball 68 in the opening game of that series.
Kieron Pollard: His big-hitting prowess with the bat makes him the danger man in the middle order. The skipper is one of the leading run-scorers for the Windies in this format - 953 runs which includes three fifties. Pollard is also a handy bowler. He took three wickets at an economy of 6.85 against Afghanistan.
Kesrick Williams: He has taken the most wickets for the West Indies in T20Is from the current squad - 38 wickets in 21 matches which includes one four-fer. The paceman was the most impressive of all the bowlers in the Afghanistan series where he finished as the leading wicket-taker with eight wickets at an economy of 5.91.
WI Recent Form
It is surprising to see West Indies struggling in a format that is suited to their style of play. The Windies have managed to win only one of the nine T20 internationals they have played so far this year. They suffered a 0-3 clean sweep at home against England in March before being blanked again in a three-match home series against India in August. They recently took on Afghanistan in a series of three T20Is hosted by Lucknow, India. West Indies won the first match but were outplayed in the last two matches to lose the series 1-2.
West Indies Predicted Playing 11
Evin Lewis, Lendl Simmons, Shimron Hetmyer, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Kieron Pollard (c), Sherfane Rutherford, Fabian Allen, Jason Holder, Kesrick Williams, Sheldon Cottrell, Hayden Walsh

🏆 India vs West Indies Prediction
India and West Indies are bringing contrasting forms with them into this match. While the former have won six of their last eight T20Is, the latter have been facing a lot of disappointment in this format and are coming off eight losses in their last nine matches. The Windies also don't have a good T20I record against India; they have lost to them on the last six occasions straight and thrice in the four matches played in India. They, however, do boast some serious firepower in the batting department and should really fancy their chances if the likes of Evin Lewis, Lendl Simmons and Kieron Pollard come out with all guns blazing. But India, who have recalled their frontline players, look superior and are favorites to win the series opener.
