IND vs AUS Betting Tips

  • Australia take a 1-0 lead into this second and final game in the series, after a last-ball win in the first match between the two in Visakhapatnam.
  • The two teams drew a rain-affected series 1-1 in Australia in November, but economical bowling from Nathan Coulter-Nile (3-26) and 56 from 43 balls from Glenn Maxwell helped them to a three-wicket win last time out - Pat Cummins and Jhye Richardson scoring 14 off the final over.
  • Jasprit Bumrah (3-16) and Krunal Pandya (1-17) were India's stand-out bowlers but they paid the price for not scoring enough runs.

IND vs AUS Toss Prediction

In a change from the previous series between them, Australia won the toss last time out and fielded first – India may prefer to field first if they win the toss in Bangalore.

Advantage Batting Second

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has hosted five T20 internationals of which three have been won by the side batting second. The ground sports one of the best batting pitches in the world and it would be very hard for the team batting first to predict a safe score as 200+ has been chased here on four occasions. So the team that bats first might actually end up posting an insufficient total on the board in their quest of scoring really big.

India Team News & Playing 11

IND Team News

Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the series through injury, with the hosts electing not to bring in a replacement for the T20 matches. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav already being rested, Mayank Markande made his debut last time out but he could be replaced by Siddarth Kaul if a more seam-friendly track is prepared. The hosts could decide to rest Rohit Sharma for this game and bring in Shikhar Dhawan instead. Dinesh Karthik could also be dropped for Vijay Shankar who would also provide the team with a sixth bowling option.

Captain Virat Kohili and opening bowler Jasprit Bumrah are both back in the Indian squad after being rested, but Bhuvneshwar Kumar will miss the start of the series as he is handed a break. KL Rahul is back in international contention after his recent ban for comments he made on TV, while Mayank Markande is in the squad as back-up spinner – Kuldeep Yadav is being rested. Vijay Shankar looks set to continue after impressing since coming into the team earlier this year.

IND Key Players

Virat Kohli hit a modest 24 from 17 balls last time out but there is no question his return significantly strengthens the Indian batting line-up. He hit a series-levelling unbeaten half-century when the teams met in Australia in November and will hope for a repeat.

KL Rahul returned ahead of Shikhar Dhawan for the first match and responded with a half-century, meanwhile. Rohit Sharma opens the batting and he will be keen to add to his 53 T20 half-centuries and six T20 hundreds when he makes his 300th appearance in the format.

With the ball, Jasprit Bumrah returned from his break and was straight back to his best – claiming 3-16 to move past 50 wickets in the format in his 41st T20 international. He also boasts a brilliant economy rate.

Yuzvendra Chahal took 1-28 last time out and he could find some assistance in the Bangalore wicket as he closes in on 50 T20 international wickets in his 31st appearance.

IND Team Form

India are faltering in the T20 format, having won just two of their last six completed matches. The bad run started in a rain-altered 17-over match with Australia when they first met in November, as India lost by five runs.

Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 61, after Krunal Pandya’s four-wicket haul, ensured they levelled the series, however.

India then travelled to New Zealand but suffered their first T20 series defeat in nine as they lost 2-1 overall. In the first game, New Zealand posted 219/6 and India were dismissed for 139 in reply. Pandya took 3-28 and Rohit Sharma hit a half-century as India chased 159 to hit back with a seven-wicket win, but New Zealand claimed the series after setting India 213 to win. They fell to a four-run defeat.

Australia Team News & Playing 11

AUS Team News

Peter Handscomb kept wickets for the first time in his international career in the first T20I which means no place for vice-captain Alex Carey. Mitchell Starc is already out of the series and now Kane Richardson has also joined the injury club. Richardson has been ruled out of the entire tour and he has been replaced by Andrew Tye who will link up with the team on Thursday along with Shaun Marsh. Australia opened the batting with D'Arcy Short and Marcus Stoinis last time but they might put Aaron Finch back in his usual opening spot with Stoinis pushed down to number three.

AUS Key Players

Glenn Maxwell was their top run scorer last time out, anchoring the chase with 56 from 43 balls in the middle order to continue the form he showed towards the end of the Big Bash League too. He helped Melbourne Stars to the final of the latter, along with Marcus Stoinis – the latter having hit 533 runs and claimed 14 wickets in his 13 BBL appearances.

Also in good form in that tournament was D’Arcy Short, who hit six half-centuries and topped the batting charts with 637 runs from 15 innings. He scored a patient 37 last time out.

With the ball, Nathan Coulter-Nile took 3-26 last time out, and was backed by economical bowling from Pat Cummins (1-19) and Jason Behrendorff (1-16).

AUS Team Form

Australia were in poor T20 form before facing India at home and drawing. They had last beaten the UAE in a one-off match, losing to Pakistan and South Africa before meeting the Indians.

Victory in the rain-affected first match ended that run of four straight defeats, however – Adam Zampa’s 2-22 with the ball proving the difference in a narrow five-run win. It was not enough to win the series – rain curtailing the second game before India won the third by six wickets, after Australia posted 164/6.

But they won again last time out, with Glenn Maxwell hitting a half-century and Nathan Coulter-Nile (3-26) leading the bowling. Australia were set 127 to win and hit 14 off the final over to seal a last-ball win.

Australia Predicted Playing 11

Aaron Finch (c), D'Arcy Short, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Peter Handscomb (wk), Ashton Turner, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins, Jhye Richardson, Jason Behrendorff, Adam Zampa

India vs Australia Head to Head

Australia have now won seven of their 19 previous T20 internationals against India. There have been 11 India wins and one match ended without any result.

Adam Zampa’s bowling and Marcus Stoinis’ all-round form earned Australia a narrow win at the start of their last series, at home in November. Rain curtailed the next game, but India levelled the series in the final match – Krunal Pandya claiming a four-wicket haul and Virat Kohli hitting an unbeaten 61 in a six-wicket win.

Last time out, Glenn Maxwell hit a half-century to anchor Australia’s chase of 127 to win after some good economical bowling. They still needed 14 off the final over, but won it off the final ball.

India vs Australia 2nd T20 Key Statistics

Australia have played nine T20 internationals in India and have faced defeats on five occasions. However, the Aussies have four wins in their previous six T20Is in this country.

India emerged victorious in the last two T20Is they have played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

India have a good recent record in the T20 format; they have won 13 of their last 18 matches and have been beaten just once in their last 8 matches played at home.

Australia, on the other hand, have suffered four defeats in their last six T20 internationals played away from home.

India vs Australia Betting Odds

Despite the result in the first match, India are favourites to level the series and can be backed at a best price of 1.45 with Betway, 1.50 with Bet365 and 1.46 with Betrally. Australia, by contrast, are as high as 2.62 with Bet365 and 2.50 with both Betway and Betrally.

Virat Kohli was their star man as they levelled the last series they played against Australia, and he is 9.50 to be India’s top batsman with Betway.

Australia, meanwhile, needed in-form Glenn Maxwell’s half-century to anchor their chase last time out. He is 5.00 with Bet365 to be their top batsman, but the likes of Aaron Finch (3.75) might also be worth backing as he has a lot to prove to the national selectors given his recent form.

With the ball, Jasprit Bumrah got straight back to his best form for India last time out. He is 3.00 to be their top bowler and 1.83 to score over 26.5 performance points with Bet365. Betway is offering odds of 15 on Bumrah and Nathan Coulter-Nile to finish as the top bowlers in this second T20I.

A half-century in the match is being offered at 1.20 with Betway and 1.16 with both Bet365 and Betrally while a century is up at 8 with Bet365 and 7.75 with Betrally.

🏆 India vs Australia Prediction

India's dominant T20 form has slipped but they are still favourites to level this series with a victory in this second game.
