Hobart Hurricanes failed to back up their winning performance against Melbourne Renegades as they went down to Sydney Sixers by 9 runs. Even though they lost the match, they’ll be satisfied with their performance. Hayley Mathews was outstanding for them with 3 wickets and got good support from Amy Smith in restricting Sixers to 149. In the batting department, Hayley Mathews, Nicola Carey and Naomi Stalenberg batted well but couldn’t get their team over the line. With 1 wins in 6 matches, Hobart Hurricanes are struggling in the bottom half of the table and will need a win to revive their tournament. Hurricanes will need a big performance from their players if they’re to overcome Sydney Thunder. Sydney Thunder had an off day against Melbourne Renegades in the last match. 

Even though they restricted Renegades to a manageable 110, thanks to a great bowling effort by Sammy Jo Johnson, Samantha Bates and Lauren Smith, they failed to chase the target and went down by two runs. Rachel Trenaman fought hard but got no support from the other end. The loss has shown that Thunder too can collapse with quality bowling. Sydney Thunder however, will be hoping that this was a one off a performance. They have a decent batting line up that should be able to deliver a match winning performance against Hobart Hurricanes
