Who will win Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Thunder, BBL 2020?
Hobart Hurricanes need to beat Sydney Thunder to keep their 2019-20 Big Bash League campaign alive. The match takes place on January 24 at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena and the live action is scheduled to start at 18:10 local time.
The Hurricanes beat Melbourne Renegades by four runs last time out but, sitting seventh in the table, they must beat the Thunder or they will longer be able to reach the play-offs. They do, however, have D’Arcy Short back from international duty – the BBL icon scored an unbeaten century in his most recent innings in the competition.
Sydney Thunder, meanwhile, currently occupy the final place in the BBL play-off places but lost to Perth Scorchers last time out – a heavy eight-wicket defeat defending 153/5. Defeat will put them level on points with the Hurricanes going into the final round of fixtures.

Hobart Hurricanes Team News & Playing 11
HBH Team News
D’Arcy Short is back from international duty and will slot back into the Hurricanes side and look to rekindle his partnership with Matthew Wade. Wade returned as Short departed for international duty at the start of the month, so this will be last year’s two top BBL run-scorers’ first match together in this season’s competition. Short could replace Jake Doran, with Mac Wright having established his place by hitting 70* last time out.
HBH Key Players
Matthew Wade: Hit 61 on his first game back and then, after a quiet spell, got right back to his best last time out with 66 from just 29 balls at the top of the order.
D’Arcy Short: Signed off for international duty with an unbeaten century against Perth Scorchers and will now look to add to his 248 runs from six innings so far.
Nathan Ellis: The seamer kept his cool with a brilliant last over to earn victory against Melbourne Renegades last time out.
HBH Team Form
David Miller’s batting heroics, hammering 90* from 48 balls against Adelaide Strikers, was not quite enough to pull off a win as Hobart Hurricanes posted 176/6 in reply to 186/5.
They got back to winning ways last time out, however. Mac Wright (70*) and Matthew Wade (66) helped them to 190/3 and they restricted Melbourne Renegades to 186/4 in reply thanks to some excellent bowling at the death by Clive Rose and Nathan Ellis.

SYT Team News
Sydney Thunder were unaffected by Australia call-ups and so have the same squad at their disposal as before. Arjun Nair returned to the team last time out, in place of Nathan McAndrew and there will be further changes considered after a heavy defeat to the Scorchers.
SYT Key Players
Alex Hales: Hit ten fours and three sixes on his way to 85 from 59 balls last time out to move to 171 runs in his last four innings, including two half-centuries.
Daniel Sams: Could not add to his chart-topping 20 wickets in this year’s tournament so far, having taken 3-14 in the Sydney Derby win that preceded the defeat to the Scorchers.
Chris Morris: Took his 14th wicket of the season and his 251st in 200 T20 innings last time out. He now has six in his last four matches.
SYT Team Form
Sydney Thunder’s inconsistency continued last time out. They bowled Sydney Sixers out for 76 in 15.5 overs in a rain-affected Sydney derby win but then failed to back it up last time out against Perth Scorchers.
Alex Hales hit 85 from 59 balls, but lacked support throughout and the Thunder posted 153/5 against Perth Scorchers. In reply, the Scorchers needed just 15.3 overs to reach 154/2.
