Gloucestershire are favorites to win

Who will win Gloucestershire vs Hampshire, Vitality Blast 2019?

Gloucestershire and Hampshire face each other at Bristol’s County Ground in the South Group of the 2019 Vitality Blast. The match takes place on August 13 and the live action begins at 18:30 local time.

Gloucestershire had won back-to-back games before defeat to Middlesex last time out, and know they need to get back to winning ways to stay firmly in quarter-final contention in the south group. They have won three and lost three so far.

Hampshire have also won three, but two defeats in their last two games – including a punishing loss against Somerset – means they have now lost four in total. They are a two points and one place behind Gloucestershire, and defeat in this game would give them a mountain to climb if they are to reach the top four.

GLO vs HAM Toss Prediction

The last two matches at Bristol were won by the team fielding first, who successfully won the toss on each occasion. This could be a key toss then, and one the Gladiators will be keen to win after doing likewise in their most recent home game.

GLO vs HAM Weather Report

Though it is set to be cloudy in Bristol throughout Tuesday, with temperatures not getting up above 17 degrees Celsius, the chance of rain is low and the match should go ahead unhindered.

GLO vs HAM Pitch Condition

With six days between fixtures, the balanced Bristol wicket will have had some time to recover. It has served up something for batsmen and bowlers so far.

Gloucestershire Team News & Playing 11

GLO Team News

Benny Howell missed the defeat at Lord’s, with Graeme van Buuren picked in his place. With Howell injured, Van Buuren could continue against Hampshire.

GLO Key Players

Chris Liddle: Has come into the team to good effect, with his left-arm pace having accounted for six wickets in four matches, at a rate of one wicket every two overs. He took 2-32 last time out, while he has three in two games at Bristol.

Miles Hammond: Back on form with scores of 30 and 42 in his last two matches, the 23-year-old still has an excellent T20 strike rate of 154.88, having hit 491 runs in his 20 innings to date. He has 178 in this year’s competition so far.

Andrew Tye: The bowling star of the IPL in 2018, and for Australia too, the paceman has eight wickets so far, including five in three games at Bristol.

GLO Team Form

Gloucestershire have won three and tied one of their seven completed games so far. Their most recent win was at Surrey, when they posted 165/8 and had Surrey at 94/2 from 12 overs in a rain-reduced reply – handing Gloucestershire a nine-run DLS-method win.Last time out, however, at Middlesex, Gloucestershire posted 168/8 and Middlesex were 156/3 after 18.1 overs – enough for the hosts to claim a nine-run DLS-method run win on this occasion.

HAM Key Players

James Vince: Part of England’s World Cup-winning squad, the big-hitting opener and Hampshire captain has scored 218 runs in seven innings, including two half-centuries.

Liam Dawson: Unused by England during the World Cup, but he has been back to his best in the T20 Blast so far – he has scored 131 runs from seven innings and taken seven wickets, with an economy rate of 7.09 runs per over.

Kyle Abbott: Hampshire’s top wicket taker so far, the South African bowler has taken five in the last two matches to move to 12 wickets in total from seven innings. He could improve his economy rate, however.

After starting the month in resurgent form, with wins against Essex and Glamorgan, Hampshire go into this game on the back of two consecutive defears. They were all out for 135 against Kent Spitfires and lost by four wickets in the final over.

GLO vs HAM Dream11 Prediction

James Bracey has been Gloucestershire’s wicket-keeper so far this season, while Lewis McManus is behind the stumps for Hampshire. Bracey has scored slightly higher than McManus so far, despite only being eight credits.

That is handy, because it saves some credits for the batsmen. James Vince is Hampshire’s leading run-scorer so far, while Rilee Rossouw is as big a danger as ever with the bat too. For Gloucestershire, Ian Cockbain and Michael Klinger have perhaps not been consistent enough to justify their hefty tags, but at least one is still worth picking – particularly as Miles Hammond, back in form in the last two innings, is just 8.5 credits and balances things out.

Liam Dawson has scored runs and picked up wickets, showing why England included him in their World Cup squad – even if he did not feature in the tournament. Chris Morris is another of their leading all-rounders. With Benny Howell injured, those two are the better options for all-rounders. Jack Taylor and Ryan Higgins are good alternatives, however – the latter in particular has scored well.

Andrew Tye, Chris Liddle and Kyle Abbott are all good options with the ball but may be too expensive depending on your selections so far. Liddle has six wickets in 12 overs, proving himself a useful strike bowler. Further down the pricing scale, David Payne has scored more Dream 11 points than any of those three, while Chris Wood has been in wicket-taking form – as he was in this fixture last season too.

Liam Dawson can, and has, contributed with bat and ball so far in this year’s tournament and will be a good pick as captain if he gets time for a good innings. James Vince will definitely have that time, meanwhile, and the England batsman is in good form too. Vince may be a better option as vice-captain. An alternative, given how many Dream 11 points he has scored so far, is Ryan Higgins.
