Read on for team previews, betting tips, latest odds, and match prediction for Glamorgan vs Surrey, Vitality T20 Blast 2023
As one of the surprise packages so far in the Vitality T20 Blast 2023, Glamorgan come into this match with four wins and one defeat from their five games. They are level on points with their opponents in this fixture but have a game in hand and are in third place.
Glamorgan have a really strong batting unit with Captain Kiran Carlson, Sam Northeast, Colin Ingram and keeper-batter Chris Cooke all making useful contributions so far. Cooke hit four sixes in his 50 from 28 balls against Sussex Sharks on Sunday.
Prem Sisodiya and Peter Hatzoglou were the only Glamorgan bowlers to go wicketless against Sussex Sharks as Jamie Mcllroy led the way with figures of 3-28. Dan Douthwaite was expensive but picked up his 10th dismissal of the campaign.
Glamorgan haven’t lost since May 28th when they were beaten by top of the table Somerset. They are targeting their fourth successive victory in this match.
Edward Byrom, Sam Northeast, Kiran Carlson (c), Colin Ingram, Chris Cooke (wk), Ruaidhri Smith, Billy Root, Daniel Douthwaite, Prem Sisodiya, Peter Hatzoglou, Jamie McIlroy
Although their campaign has stuttered a little bit over recent matches, Surrey are still in second place in the South Group and well set to finish in the top four and qualify for the knockout stage. They beat Kent Spitfires by 5 wickets on Sunday.
Openers Will Jacks (30 runs from 21 balls) and Laurie Evans (52 runs from 36 balls) got Surrey off to a good start when chasing 174 for victory against Kent. However it was some big hitting lower down the order from Jamie Smith (49 from 29) and Sean Abbott (21 from 14) which got Surrey over the winning line.
Surrey’s spinners did the damage in the last match with Will Jacks taking 3-28 and West Indian Sunil Narine taking 2-28 from his four overs. Sam Curran, Sean Abbott and Chris Jordan will have to use all of their experience bowling on this wicket.
Surrey have won two of their last three matches and have lost only two of their six games across this campaign.
Will Jacks, Laurie Evans, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Jamie Smith, Sean Abbott, Sunil Narine, Ben Foakes (wk), Chris Jordan (c), Jamie Overton, Gus Atkinson
We are expecting this to be a high scoring and entertaining clash in Cardiff between two of the top three in the South Group. Glamorgan have not been intimidated by any side so far in the competition and we expect them to take the attack to Surrey. However, Surrey are starting to look back to their best and have strength in depth with the bat and the ball. We are predicting Surrey to win this match.
