Guyana Amazon Warriors Team News & Playing 11
Guyana Team News
There are no injury worries for Guyana Amazon Warriors at the moment and we expect them to come into this game with the same line-up that beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their first match of the season at this very ground.
Guyana Key Players
The top three in Chadwick Walton, Luke Ronchi and Shimron Hetmyer hold the key to Guyana's batting. Walton topped the runs charts last season with 458 runs in 12 matches which included three half-centuries. Hetmyer recently neutralized Gayle's magnificent innings with a match-winning 79 off 45 balls against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots while Ronchi had shown terrific form in this year's PSL. With the ball, the Warriors will look to the likes of Sohail Tanvir, Keemo Paul and Imran Tahir to deliver the goods. Tanvir was last year's leading wicket-taker and he together with Paul who was the pick of the bowlers against the Patriots will be the main threats in this pace attack. Tahir had a successful stint in the ongoing Vitality Blast and he will be the skipper's go-to man when it comes to spin.
Guyana Recent Form
Guyana Amazon Warriors got their CPL 2018 campaign off to an ideal start with a comprehensive six-wicket victory over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Providence Stadium, their home venue. After winning the toss and opting to field first, the Warriors restricted the Patriots to a modest 146/5 in their 20 overs and then their batsmen eased past that total inside 17 overs.
Guyana Amazon Warriors Predicted Playing 11
Chadwick Walton, Luke Ronchi (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Shoaib Malik (c), Sherfane Rutherford, Jason Mohammed, Sohail Tanvir, Chris Green, Rayad Emrit, Keemo Paul, Imran Tahir
Barbados Tridents Team News & Playing 11
Barbados Team News
Barbados Tridents will be led by the West Indian allrounder Jason Holder in this sixth edition of CPL. The team has drafted Australia's Steven Smith in their squad as replacement for Shakib Al Hasan who will not be taking part in the tournament this year. Martin Guptill has also been included in the side and he is likely to open the batting alongside Dwayne Smith.
Barbados Key Players
Hashim Amla, Dwayne Smith, Martin Guptill and Steven Smith form the core of what seems to be a formidable batting line-up. Dwayne Smith scored the most runs for the Tridents in the previous season - 349 runs in 10 matches including two centuries - and he will be expected to fire with the bat this year as well. Steven Smith is coming off a pretty good Global T20 Canada and he can cause problems for the Warriors if they fail to dismiss him early in his innings. Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan and Jason Holder will be the bowlers to watch out for from the Tridents' bowling department. Riaz was one of their best performers with the ball last season with ten wickets in nine matches and he will be backed by the team to make the early strikes with the new ball.
Barbados Recent Form
Barbados Tridents are coming into this match on the back of a disappointing CPL 2017 season where they won four and lost six out of their ten league matches. They finished fifth in the standings and missed out on a playoffs berth by not many points. The Tridents have lost five of their last seven matches which includes a ten-wicket thrashing at the hands of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their most recent encounter.
Barbados Tridents Predicted Playing 11
Martin Guptill, Dwayne Smith, Hashim Amla, Steven Smith, Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Jason Holder (c), Roston Chase, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan, Ashley Nurse
