England Women are Favorites to win
England Women and Australia Women start their battle for the Women’s Ashes with a WODI at Grace Road, Leicester. The match is scheduled for July 2 and the live action begins at `4:00 local time.
TV channels: Sky Sports Cricket, Channel Nine
Live streaming: Now TV, Sky Go
England Women elected to bat first whenever they had the chance in the WODI series with West Indies most recently and Heather Knight is likely to do the same again this time out, if given the chance.
Though slightly cloudy, there should be no interruptions in Leicester on an otherwise warm and fair day and night.
The pitch has been newly prepared for this Women’s Ashes match, with Leicestershire last in action nearly a fortnight ago. Generally, however, Grace Road favours batting.

The warm-up match against the Australia A team is likely to reflect England’s line-up for this opening WODI. That would mean Amy Jones continuing as wicket-keeper ahead of Sarah Taylor and Kate Cross retaining her place in the bowling attack. Katie George was expensive with the ball, however, and that could mean Katherine Brunt being restored to the starting XI.
Danielle Wyatt got back to form in recent matches, smashing 81 in the women’s T20i against West Indies and then top-scoring in the warm-up game for this series with 93 from 76 balls.
Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont are also in excellent batting form. Jones top-scored against West Indies with 189 runs in the three matches and hit 42 in the warm-up match, while Beaumont hit 32, 61 and 46 in the three games and 62 in the warm-up.
Captain Heather Knight hit 148 runs in the series with West Indies and also picked up two wickets, meanwhile, and Nat Sciver remains an obvious danger with the bat too.
With the ball, Kate Cross took 5-32 across the series with West Indies, while Anya Shrubsole is still one of the team’s leading bowlers having taken 79 wickets in 63 WODI innings. Sophie Ecclestone’s left-arm spin has now brought 30 wickets in 18 internationals, meanwhile.
England Women have bounced back from a 2-1 WODI series defeat to India by whitewashing both Sri Lanka and West Indies in their two most recent bilateral series.
Amy Jones’ batting led the way against Sri Lanka, as she passed 50 in all three matches to help England to their 3-0 series win. Against West Indies, meanwhile, Jones hit two half-centuries and the England bowlers also dominated as they won by 208 runs, 121 runs (D/L method) and 135 runs (D/L method).

Tayla Vlaeminck could make just her second WODI appearance for Australia, after Meg Lanning told Cricinfo the fast bowler could be their wildcard in this series. Nicola Carey and Delissa Kimmince are also in contention for a pace-bowling spot, alongside established stars Ellyse Perry and Megan Schutt.
Alyssa Healy has led the way with the bat for Australia, with 570 runs in her 12 innings in the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship. She is Australia’s top run scorer, ahead of Ellyse Perry (445 runs) and Rachael Haynes (433). All three of hit three 50s so far, while Perry and Healy have also passed 100.
With the ball, Megan Schutt has taken 23 wickets in 11 games with an economy rate of just 4.08 runs per over to boot, Jess Jonassen has 21 from nine games, meanwhile, and Ashleigh Gardner has taken 18.
Jonassen has been in the wickets so far on this tour too, taking 3-19 against the England Academy in Australia’s first warm-up match.
Australia have won 11 of their 12 WODIs in the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship. Since the last Women’s Ashes, in which they won the WODI series 2-1, Australia have beaten India, Pakistan and New Zealand 3-0.
Most recently, in the Rose Bowl series against New Zealand, they followed up a tense five-run win with two more dominant victories. Ellyse Perry scored 167 runs in the series, including one unbeaten century in the final game. Jess Jonassen, meanwhile, claimed nine wickets including 5-27 in the third WODI.

Australia Women won 2-1 in the WODI part of the 2017/18 Women’s Ashes and their next win against England will be their 50th in the format. England have won 22 times, with one tie and three no results.
World champions England, who beat Australia by three runs on their way to claiming the world title on home soil in 2017, were undone by Megan Schutt’s bowling when they last met – the Aussie quick took ten wickets in the series, as Australia won the first two matches. Heather Knight’s 89* from 80 balls helped England hit back in the third match, however.

Australia Women won the WODI part of the last Women’s Ashes and, despite England being world champions, the tourists have been named as favourites by the bookmakers.
Australia and England both boast some in-form players, so there are plenty of worthy options for Dream11 selection.
Wicket-keeper
Amy Jones is England’s most in-form player with the bat, but it is also worth selecting Australia’s wicket-keeper, Alyssa Healy, too. Healy is Australia’s top scorer in the ICC Women’s Championship to highlight her form.
Batsmen
Both teams’ captains lead the way with the bat, with both Meg Lanning and Heather Knight available at ten credits each. Rachael Haynes is in good form and is nine credits, meanwhile – as is Tammy Beaumont. Lower down the price order, Danielle Wyatt showed good form against Australia A and could be worth picking to free up some credits elsewhere. All five are worth picking, but sticking to a maximum of four ensures there is enough space for Australia’s two in-form all-rounders.
All-rounders
Given her bowling form against New Zealand, Jess Jonassen is a steal at 8.5 credits. That frees up a few credits to ensure Ellyse Perry, at 10.5 credits, can still be afforded.
Bowlers
Megan Schutt has caused problems for England before, while England’s bowlers have all been in excellent form. Kate Cross impressed against West Indies, while Sophie Ecclestone and Anya Shrubsole have all consistently taken wickets.
Captain/Vice-captain
Ellyse Perry is the obvious pick as captain but not the only option. Jess Jonassen has been in the wickets lately, while Heather Knight always leads from the front for England with the bat (and occasionally the ball) too. Amy Jones is also in superb form.

England Women may have lost the WODI portion of the last Women’s Ashes but they arrive at this series in excellent form. On home soil, the world champions can get off to a winning start.
