Eng vs SL T20: Will the Lankans Go Winless?
After defeating Sri Lanka 2-0 in the test series and 3-0 in the ODI series, England will look to continue their dominance in the solitary T20 international as well. This one-off fixture will be played on the 5th of July at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. Sri Lanka have so far managed to win only against minnows Ireland in the two ODIs, and so they will be hoping to end their tour on a high. The final match of Sri Lanka’s tour of England is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM local time.

Till now, there have been only three T20Is played at the Rose Bowl with first-innings scores of 248, 163 and 179. Since 163 almost got chased down, the team batting first might not feel safe enough unless they put up something around 180 on the scoreboard.
All the three games at this ground have been won by the team batting first. So the 'flip of the coin' is going to be important on Tuesday, and whoever wins the toss will probably want to bat first and post a challenging total.

Joe Root will not be featuring in this game while Roy, Vince, Bairstow and Buttler are likely to retain their place in the playing XI. Roy was the top-scorer in the ODI series and his innings is going to be crucial for England at the top of the order. Buttler, who is a dangerous batsman in the shortest format, could come up the order. If England are to get to 180, Roy, Morgan and Buttler will have to bat well.
The English openers might face Suranga Lakmal and Nuwan Pradeep at the start. The pace duo took 5 wickets each in the ODI series and were the pick of the lot. Sri Lanka will be backing them to strike early and put pressure on the hosts. Angelo Mathews will look to bring all his experience at the death and he is also expected to pick up a few wickets. England's hopes of reaching the predicted score might take a setback if they lose too many wickets upfront.

They might fare better in the 20-over format as their batsmen will have the liberty to play with freedom. Mendis, Gunathilaka, Chandimal and Mathews have done well in the ODI series, and Sri Lanka will need them to click on Tuesday. Tharanga and Shanaka have the ability to score quickly towards the end, and with two really good innings at the top, the visitors should be able to reach 165.
David Willey and Liam Plunkett ran through Sri Lanka's batting lineup in the fifth ODI. Both bagged 10 wickets apiece to become the highest wicket-takers in the series, and the two will be England's best bet to create panic in the Lankan camp. All-rounder Chris Jordan and leggie Adil Rashid will be playing supporting roles to these two by throwing in some tidy overs. If the English bowlers keep chipping away at the wickets, Sri Lanka may even find it difficult to get to the 150-mark.

Sri Lanka beat England by two runs the last time these two sides met in a T20 international at the Rose Bowl. The hosts have played three games here and have just one win that came way back in 2005. The visitors will also be taking confidence from the fact that England have won only three of the last seven T20Is played between them. Their most recent T20 meeting came at the World T20 where England defeated Sri Lanka at New Delhi. Coming back to this tour, the Lankans have been outclassed by this new English side and it is going to take much more effort from them to take the hosts down in their backyard.
Sri Lanka might fancy their chances given the fickle nature of T20 cricket. But England have been the superior side of late and so we're predicting them to win this one-off T20 and keep the visitors away from a win against them on this tour.
