Can Pakistan Stage a Comeback at the Lord’s?
England have taken a 1-0 lead in the 5-match ODI series, beating Pakistan in the first game by 44 runs on account of D/L method. Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan could manage a modest 260 on what was a good batting track. The hosts then rode on the fifties of Jason Roy and Joe Root to get home.
The series moves to the 'Home of Cricket' - Lord's, which will host the second ODI on August 27. Play is scheduled to commence at 10:30 AM local time.

Venue and Toss
Lord's has seen four good first-innings scores in the last six ODIs. 300 and above have been achieved twice in these matches and 270+ on two occasions. So it has been a decent enough batting pitch but it isn't expected to be as good as the one at The Rose Bowl.
The side batting first at this ground has won five of the last eight games including the two most recent games. This will add importance to the toss and whichever team wins it may look to bat first.
Pakistan, this time, should be in with a better chance if they win the toss and post another 260 here. But England winning the toss is going to swing the match in their favor.

Predicted Score: Around 275
They might want to consider one of Jonny Bairstow or Liam Dawson in place of Alex Hales who has not been performing well. Roy, Root, Morgan and Buttler are the ones whom the hosts will be relying upon. Jos Buttler has fond memories at this ground. He hit a 74-ball 121 here in 2014 against Sri Lanka. Jason Roy scored 65 in the last match and he has been going through good form for a long time now. Joe Root too made a fifty and should be backed to top-score.
Pakistan's pace attack will be led by Mohammad Amir, Umar Gul and Wahab Riaz. Amir has been bowling well ever since he made his comeback to international cricket and is going to be the most threatening of the three. Umar Gul took a four-for against England at Lord's in 2010 and Pakistan will be backing their more experienced bowler to pick up wickets. Riaz, since the last two years, has been among their top four wicket-takers. England will have to bat well against these three Pakistani quicks, otherwise they could end up short of the predicted total.

If PAK Bat First
Predicted Score: Around 250
They will need to make sure that they don't lose the plot after setting up a nice foundation. Their skipper Azhar Ali will be the key batsmen and a favorite to top-score again. He has produced several match-winning performances in the past, the most recent being the last match where he anchored the innings with a well-compiled 82. Sarfraz Ahmed got a fifty and looks the best among the middle-order batsmen. Pakistan will need Ali to score big again and the rest to bat around him in order to get past 250.
Chris Woakes will be given the charge of heading England's seam attack and rock Pakistan's top-order early on. He was the pick of the English bowlers in the test series and he has a good chance of finishing as the top-bowler from his side on Saturday. Adil Rashid, the leg-spinner, took two big wickets in the last match and is expected to provide good support to Woakes. England will be depending on these two bowlers the most for restricting Pakistan to less than 250.
Eng vs Pak Head-to-Head in ODIs
In the 77 one-day internationals between the two teams, Pakistan only have 29 wins to England's 46. There was no result in two of these games.
At Lord's, both teams have gone head-to-head seven times. Pakistan have an edge here, winning four of these matches while England have won three. The visitors have wins in the last two face-offs (2006 and 2010) at this venue.
Our Prediction
Pakistan will feel they have a chance here as England do not have a great record at Lord's. In their 49 matches at the venue, they have 21 wins, 25 defeats and two ties with a win percentage of 45.83 which is very low for a home ground. Also, they have lost their last three matches here and have also lost to Pakistan the last two times they played against them at this ground. But the visitors are very unpredictable with the bat in comparison to the hosts whose batting lineup looks solid, especially in English conditions.
Although Pakistan have shown their ability to stage a comeback from behind in the test series, we feel that England will go on to win this second ODI and acquire a 2-0 lead.
