England vs Pakistan 2nd ODI Prediction & Betting Tips
England and Pakistan go head to head in the second game of their three match ODI series in London on Saturday. Pakistan were well beaten in the opening match in Cardiff, falling to 0-2 after three balls before being bowled out for 141 inside 36 overs. England then reached their target with 169 balls remaining and only 1 wicket down. Read on as we preview the ODI. This match will get underway at Lord’s at 11:00 local time.
In spite of having to select an entirely new ODI squad, England showed their strength in depth by thrashing Pakistan in the opening ODI. England may well be tested further in this match but have a lot more to give.
Pakistan could not have got off to a worse start in Cardiff and found themselves at 0-2 halfway through the first over. If Imam ul-Haq and Babar Azam get started then Pakistan will be very competitive.

England Team News & Playing 11
ENG Team News
After an untaxing workout in Cardiff, we expect England to select the same XI at Lord’s. Saqib Mahmood was the only bowler to complete 10 overs so they will be keen to see how the others manage over the course of a 50-over innings. Phil Salt will certainly get another opportunity at the top of the order.
ENG Key Players
- Dawid Malan- the Yorkshire batsman is quietly re-emerging as one of England’s most reliable batsmen across all formats. He hit his highest ODI score in Cardiff on Thursday.
- Ben Stokes- the England stand-in captain was meant to be slowly building up to full fitness in county cricket. He only bowled 1 over and did not get a bat so he will be keen to have more of an influence on Saturday.
- Saqib Mahmood- the Lancashire paceman took his opportunity with the new ball and will be looking to follow it up in this match to give himself the best chance of cementing his place in the side.
England have now won their last three completed ODI fixtures. Even with their second-string side, they are returning to the form which they kept up in the years before the 2019 World Cup win.
England Predicted Playing 11
Phil Salt, Dawid Malan, Zak Crawley, James Vince, Ben Stokes (c), John Simpson (wk), Lewis Gregory, Craig Overton, Brydon Carse, Matt Parkinson, Saqib Mahmood
Pakistan Team News & Playing 11
PAK Team News
One-off performances like in Cardiff tend to be written off as such and the XI selected are all better players than they showed. We expect them all to be given another opportunity and to right the wrongs from the opening ODI with a far stronger showing at Lord’s.
PAK Key Players
- Babar Azam- a 2 ball duck was not part of Pakistan’s script for their captain in the opening ODI. This was only the third time in 79 ODI innings that he has not made a run.
- Imam ul-Haq- another batsman to make a duck in Cardiff, the opener has good memories of his last visit to Lord’s after making 100 in the 2019 World Cup against Bangladesh.
- Shaheen Shah Afridi- Pakistan’s leading bowler was far and away the biggest threat to the England batsmen in Cardiff. With more runs from the batsmen he will be even more threatening at Lord’s
Pakistan’s ODI form had been impressive but they are now threatening to return to the inconsistencies of recent years.
Pakistan Predicted Playing 11
Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Saud Shakeel, Sohaib Maqsood, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf
