England are favorites to win
After winning the second one-day international by 12 runs at Southampton, England will look to register another win and eliminate the possibility of a series loss when they take on Pakistan in the third ODI. The match will be played on May 14 at the County Ground in Bristol with live telecast scheduled to begin at 1 PM local time.

Four of the last six completed one-day internationals played at this ground have been won by the side batting first. Since the wicket here, in recent times, has tended to offer more assistance to the bowlers during the second-half of a 50-over game, the team that wins the toss may want to bat first.

England made three changes to their side for the second ODI as they brought in Jason Roy, Moeen Ali and David Willey to replace Joe Denly, James Vince and Jofra Archer. Roy, Moeen and Willey all had a good outing last time and are likely to be retained for the third game. Liam Plunkett was accused of ball-tampering in the previous match but the pace bowler has been cleared by the ICC after investigations. The hosts are coming on the back of a win and so they may not want to make any changes to their line-up.
England's top-order has looked impressive so far. Jonny Bairstow has brought his good form from the IPL. The opener hit a fifty at Southampton and could give plenty of headaches to Pakistan if he gets going again. His partner Jason Roy smashed 87 and he will look to take the hosts off to another strong start. Joe Root is having an ODI average 144 at this ground and he showed fine form in the last game as well as in the T20I. Jos Buttler looked in imperious touch the other day, scoring an unbeaten 110 off just 55 balls, and the wicketkeeper-batsman is the key man for England in the middle order. Chris Woakes, Liam Plunkett and David Willey form a potent pace attack. Willey was the standout last time with 2-57 from 10 overs and he will be expected to strike early with the new ball. The visitors will also be wary of Liam Plunkett and Adil Rashid both of whom have taken eight wickets in three ODIs at this ground.
Saturday's victory at The Rose Bowl was England's fourth win in the six completed one-day internationals that they have played so far this year. Their first ODI assignment of the year came in the West Indies; a bilateral series of five matches against the hosts in February-March which ended in a 2-2 draw. They then secured a convincing four-wicket win over Ireland in a one-off ODI at Dublin before taking on Pakistan in the ongoing series. The previous game saw a brilliant batting performance from the hosts who posted a mammoth 373/3 in their 50 overs.

Pakistan rested Mohammad Amir in the second ODI due to illness and replaced him with leg-spinner Yasir Shah who conceded 60 runs off his 7 overs. Amir has undergone some medical tests and he might be suffering from chickenpox. The pacer will, therefore, miss the third ODI and is likely to be replaced by Junaid Khan. Shoaib Malik has rejoined the team after his ten-day break from cricket. The veteran batsman was available for the previous game but was not picked in the playing eleven and it remains to be seen whether he will be given a chance on Tuesday or not. Mohammad Hafeez, who missed the first two ODIs due to injury, is likely to be drafted into the line-up if he regains full fitness ahead of this clash.
Pakistan's batting relies largely on their top three in Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam. Fakhar cracked a big ton in the last match and he will be taking plenty of confidence from that knock into the next match. Babar is one of the world's top ten batsmen in this format of the game. He has already hit a couple of half-centuries on this tour and looks set for another good outing. Asif Ali too is coming off a fine knock and he is the team's most reliable batsman in the middle order. Hasan Ali and Junaid Khan will hold the key for Pakistan with the new ball and the onus will be on them to make the early inroads into the England batting line-up. Hasan Ali has 78 ODI wickets to his name in 46 matches which includes three five-wicket hauls. Shaheen Afridi has been impressive in his short career and it will be crucial that he provides good support to Hasan and Junaid. Left-arm spinner Imad Wasim will be the go-to man for skipper Sarfaraz in the middle overs.
Pakistan are finding it difficult to put an end to their recent run of poor form in the fifty-over format. They have now lost nine out of the eleven completed one-day internationals that they have played since the start of this year, and the last seven on the bounce. After losing to South Africa 2-3 in South Africa in January, Pakistan suffered a humiliating whitewash at the hands of Australia in the UAE a couple of months later before being batted out of the game by hosts England in the second ODI of the ongoing series.

England and Pakistan have now played 84 one-day internationals against each other. 50 of those have been won by the hosts and 31 by the visitors while 3 have not produced any results.
England have now beaten Pakistan eight times in their last ten completed head-to-head encounters which includes the recent 12-run victory at Southampton.
The two countries have never faced each other at the County Ground in Bristol in the fifty-over format.

England, after their win in the last match, are heavy favorites to win the third one-day international at odds of 1.40 on Betway, 1.36 on Bet365 and 1.34 on Betrally. Pakistan begin as huge underdogs amongst the bookmakers and they are being offered at a higher price of 2.87 on Betway, 3.20 on Bet365 and 3.15 on Betrally.
Pakistan have faced two defeats in their two completed outings on this tour. With the first ODI being rained off and the second being won by the hosts, one more loss for the visitors would mean that they can only draw the series level at best by winning the final two fixtures. Although their batsmen are doing a fine job, it is their bowlers that are letting the team down. They need to hit the right lines and lengths on these pitches, otherwise they will again be taken apart by the English batsmen. England have won three of their last four completed ODIs at this venue. They are looking a tough side to beat in their own conditions and we are backing them to take an unassailable lead on Tuesday.
