India have now won their last three T20 international matches against England following the win at Old Trafford. Prior to this series, they last met in India in 2017 where England won the first match in the three-game series by seven wickets after successfully chasing 147/7.

Lokesh Rahul hit 71 in India’s total of 144/8 in the second match, and England fell five runs short after a superb last over from Jasprit Bumrah – two wickets for two runs – and India then thrashed England in the decider to win the series. Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni both hit half-centuries in India’s 202/6 before England collapsed from 119/2 to 127 all out in the space of three overs as Yuzvendra Chahal ripped through the middle order to finish with 6-25, while Bumrah took 3-14.

India are favourites to beat England in the second T20 international at 1.80 with Bet365 – England, by contrast, are 2.00 to win.

Lokesh Rahul is in superb form with the bat, as proven by his unbeaten century in the first match. He is 4.50 to be India’s top batsman in Cardiff too. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are both 4.50 too, however, and could be worth a look if they fire at the top of the order.

For England, it is no surprise Jos Buttler is favourite to be their top batsman. His electrifying form and promotion to opening the batting makes it hard to back anybody else. Buttler is 3.50 to be England’s top scorer.

Bowling-wise, Kuldeep Yadav has made a brilliant start to this tour, with seven wickets against Ireland and now a five-fer at Old Trafford. He is 3.00 to be India’s top bowler again. He is not the only spinner to have tied England in knots in recent head-to-head matches, however. Yuzvendra Chahal was the destroyer on England’s tour of India. He is 4.50 to be top bowler for India.

You can get 1.90 on both teams for the highest score after the powerplay and it is easy to see why they can not be split. Jason Roy and Jos Buttler got England off to a great start at Old Trafford, and Alex Hales and Eoin Morgan are the next men in. For India, Shikhar Dhawan fell early but he and Rohit Sharma are a fearsome opening duo, and in-form Lokesh Rahul and Virat Kohli are the next two. India were 54/1 after the first six overs at Old Trafford compared to England’s 53/1 so either could be worth backing.

India are in incredible T20 form and proved as much with what was ultimately a comfortable win in the first match of this series at Old Trafford. Jos Buttler remains a danger man for England, but while India’s spinners continue to tie the middle-order down, India remain favourites.
