England Team News & Playing 11

Eng Team News

Moeen Ali paid the price for his expensive bowling figures in the first game - and England's desire to play just one spinner at Cardiff - as he was dropped for the second game. Jake Ball made his debut in his place, with Sam Curran and Dawid Malan cleared to play for their respective counties instead.

It will likely come down to a decision between Ball and Ali again on Sunday, depending on how England choose to shape their attack. Ali's spin may give him the edge, given Ball's expensive last over in the previous game almost proved costly for England.

Eng Key Players

Jos Buttler suffered a rare failure in the second game - scoring 14 from 12 balls. Prior to that, he had hit 69 in the first game of this series and 61 against Australia, continuing the fine form that started with his stunning run of half-centuries in the IPL with Rajasthan Royals.

Alex Hales returned to form in the last match, meanwhile, hitting a match-winning 58 not out from 41 balls, including three sixes - one of which came from the first ball of the final over to swing the game England's way. He also hit 49 in the win against Australia.

Jonny Bairstow and Eoin Morgan are also key parts of the batting line-up, as is big-hitting opener Jason Roy.

Adil Rashid has taken 3-27, 1-25 and 1-29 in his last three T20 matches, but it was England's swing bowlers who impressed at Cardiff. David Willey (1-18) and Liam Plunkett (1-17) bowled 26 dot balls between them in the Indian innings, with the former not conceding a single boundary. Both can swing the bat too, if needed down the order.

Eng Team Form

England's win at Cardiff was their third in their last four T20 matches, having been in poor form in the shortest format before that. The Trans-Tasman T20 Tri Series against Australian and New Zealand saw them suffer three defeats before winning their final game against the Black Caps.

Victory against Australia last month - thanks to Jos Buttler's 30-ball 61 in a score of 221/5 - helped them to a 28-run win, before this series against India. Kuldeep Yadav and Lokesh Rahul inspired India to victory at Old Trafford, despite more excellent batting from Buttler, but Alex Hales led the comeback at Cardiff as England set up a series decider.

India Team News & Playing 11

Ind Team News

India were unchanged for the second match of the three-game series and could well select the same team again for the series decider. That would mean Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma opening the batting ahead of a middle order boasting Lokesh Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni.

Manish Pandey, Siddarth Kaul and Dinesh Karthik all played the final game against Ireland but are likely to miss out again at Bristol.

Ind Key Players

Lokesh Rahul fell for six at Cardiff, having hit a 36-ball 70 at Malahide against Ireland and his 54-ball unbeaten century against England in his two previous matches. Rohit Sharma was also unable to follow up his score from the first match, but Virat Kohli has now hit 20 not out and 47 from 38 balls in the two games against England.

Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni, fresh from Chennai Super Kings’ IPL win, added impetus down the order – Dhoni taking 32 from 24 balls to give India a competitive score to bowl at.

With the ball, Kuldeep Yadav went wicketless at Cardiff – which is not known for being spin-friendly with its short, square boundaries, but took 5-24, 4-21 and 3-16 in his three previous matches. Umesh Yadav has picked up two wickets apiece in each of his last three matches, meanwhile.

Ind Team Form

Defeat in the second match of this series was India’s first in eight T20 international matches. They had previously won seven in a row, including victory in the Nidahas Trophy, a 2-0 series win against Ireland and then the eight-wicket defeat of England at Old Trafford. Kuldeep Yadav has been in the wickets in Ireland and England so far, with 12 in three matches before going wicketless at Cardiff, while Lokesh Rahul has scored runs in both series.

England vs India Head to Head

England ended a three-match T20 international losing streak against India when Alex Hales led them to victory at Cardiff. They had last beaten India by seven wickets in the first game of their T20 series in India last year, chasing 147/7, but India won the next two to win the series.

Lokesh Rahul hit 71 in India's total of 144/8 in the second match, before Jasprit Bumrah bowled India to victory by five runs thanks to a superb last over. In the decider, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni both hit half-centuries in India's 202/6 before England collapsed from 119/2 to 127 all out - Yuzvendra Chahal doing the damage with six wickets.

Kuldeep Yadav took charge with the ball in the first match of this series - taking 5-24 - before Rahul's unbeaten century, but England hit back to set up this series decider with a five-wicket win at Cardiff.

England vs India Betting Odds

England and India have swapped places with the bookmakers and the hosts are now 1.80 to win the final game of this three-match series and India are 2.00. India had the better form going into this series, however, and if Kuldeep Yadav or Yuzvendra Chahal can recapture their best bowling form they can overcome those odds.

With the bat, Jos Buttler is 3.50 to be England's top batsman and is definitely capable of recapturing his best form having been scoring plenty since the IPL. Alex Hales was England's top batsman last time out, however - he is 5.00 to repeat the feat, while opener Jason Roy is another good option at 4.50 with Bet365.

For India, Lokesh Rahul is 4.00 to be India's top batsman, as he was with his unbeaten century in the first game. With such batting depth, however, it is no surprise to see Virat Kohli (4.00) and openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma (both 4.33) so similarly priced.

🏆 England vs India Prediction

England bounced back from defeat in the opening game of this series with a five-wicket win at Cardiff but India can seal the series in Bristol. England are in good white-ball form, but India have been unstoppable in their recent T20 series and already showed how dangerous they are with their superb victory at Old Trafford.

Final Verdict: Back India to beat England at 2.00 with Bet365
