Toss Prediction
At the Kennington Oval, the success rate of the side batting first is higher than that of the side fielding first. Moreover, since the wicket at this ground tends to offer the best batting conditions during the first couple of days, the team that wins the toss here will probably elect to bat first.

ENG Team News
England have ignored batsman James Vince for the fifth test and have drafted Ollie Pope and Chris Woakes in their 13-man squad. Woakes' leg injury will be assessed ahead of the match day and if he is declared fit, then Ben Stokes could be rested who is having trouble with his left knee. Pope could replace leg-spinner Adil Rashid if the hosts decide to play an extra batsman. Jos Buttler is likely to keep wickets even if Jonny Bairstow recovers from his finger injury. Meanwhile, Alastair Cook has announced his retirement and he is set to hang up his boots after this fifth test. England have not picked another opening batsman which means Cook will be opening the batting with Keaton Jennings.
ENG Key Players
Alastair Cook is the leading run-getter at this ground in tests from this current England squad and one can expect him to play a big knock in his final test appearance. Jos Buttler has scored the most runs for his side in this series and with Jonny Bairstow looking short of confidence with poor outings in his previous four innings, the team's middle order seems even more reliant on Buttler. Joe Root has a century and two fifties in five matches at the Oval and the skipper could return to form here. James Anderson and Stuart Broad, two of England's best pace bowlers over the years, have lived up to their expectations in this series. While Anderson is leading the wickets charts with 19 wickets, Broad is not too far behind with 14 wickets to his name. Apart from these two, Moeen Ali who finished with a match-haul of 9 wickets last time could once again pose a big threat to the Indian batsmen if the pitch has even a hint of dryness to it.
ENG Recent Form
England's 60-run win at Southampton was their fourth win in the last five test matches. They now have four wins, four losses and a draw from the nine tests they have played so far this year. The hosts, after suffering a 203-run thrashing to India in the fourth game of the ongoing series at Nottingham, staged a dramatic comeback at Southampton to secure the five-match series. While their batting could be a concern for them at the moment, their bowling seems spot on with James Anderson and Stuart Broad in threatening form.
England Predicted Playing 11
Alastair Cook, Keaton Jennings, Joe Root (c), Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes/Chris Woakes, Jos Buttler (wk), Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Adil Rashid/Ollie Pope, Stuart Broad, James Anderson

IND Team News
With the series done and dusted, India might want to consider a few changes to their line-up going into the fifth test. The visitors could be tempted to try out young Prithvi Shaw in place of KL Rahul who has struggled throughout this test series both while adopting an attacking and defensive approach. This would be the fourth opening combination for India during this series should Shaw makes his international debut. Shikhar Dhawan is expected to retain his place after putting up improved performances since returning to the side after the Lord's test. Ravichandran Ashwin is carrying a niggle which means Ravindra Jadeja could come in as a like-for-like replacement.
IND Key Players
Virat Kohli has shone with the bat. The skipper is topping the series' runs charts with 544 runs which includes two centuries and three half-centuries and he is undoubtedly India's key man when it comes to batting. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane have had a couple of good hits each. The two provided good support to Kohli at Southampton with contributions of 132* and 51 respectively and it will be crucial that they continue to bat well. Shikhar Dhawan has got starts in this series but he has not been able to convert them into something substantial. Ravichandran Ashwin has not looked at his best on this tour and so the Indian bowling department will once again bank on their pacers Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah to pick up wickets. Ishant has been the most impressive bowler for India in this series with 15 wickets and he will be backed by his team to provide the early breakthroughs.
IND Recent Form
India have now lost five out of the seven test matches they have played away from home this year. They squandered a very good opportunity to level the series at Southampton after being set a target of 245 but their batting woes came to haunt them again as the entire team folded up for just 184, conceding a 60-run win to England and hence the series. Their batsmen, with the exception of Virat Kohli, have found it difficult to survive in these conditions against a relentless English bowling attack.
India Predicted Playing 11
Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul/Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin/Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah
