Read on for our betting tips, betting odds and match prediction for Dolphins vs Lions, CSA T20 Challenge 2016....
The opening pair of Morne van Wyk and Cameron Delport as well as Vaughn van Jaarsveld will need to come good with the bat. van Wyk will be their key batsman and he could take his team off to a brisk start. Jaarsveld had scored a 28-ball 42 against the Lions last season and an important contribution from him could be around the corner.
Andile Phehlukwayo will be heading the pace attack while spin bowling is going to depend a lot on Imran Tahir. These two will be the best men with the ball for the Dolphins and the Lions will look to play them carefully. Phehlukwayo bagged a couple of wickets in the first game while conceding just three runs from two overs and we predict him to be the standout bowler for the Dolphins in this match.
Rassie van der Dussen waged a lone battle against the Titans with a flashy 51 runs off 28 balls but it wasn't enough to take the team home. The opener had also scored a well-made 32 against the Dolphins at this ground last season and we predict him to make a valuable contribution for the Lions in this match. However, the team will need others to bat around him.
Spinner Aaron Phangiso and fast bowler Hardus Viljoen are the two bowlers from the side that the Dolphins will be wary of the most. Viljoen sent the opening pair of Titans early on and the team will back him to strike early once again. Phangiso took two wickets in each of the two games against the Dolphins last year and we expect him to finish with the best bowling figures on Wednesday.
The Lions are outsiders at 2.12 with 1xbet and 2.10 with bet365. The Dolphins are short favorites to win this match at 1.66 and 1.72 respectively. Toss is going to be the key at the Kingsmead as four of the last five completed T20Is here have been won by the side batting second. We, therefore, strongly suggest betting on the hosts Dolphins if they bat second.
Neither of the two teams were able to win their inaugural fixtures and both will be under some pressure in this match to put up their first points on the table. A total of 16 completed matches have been played between them in the past with both winning 8 matches each. So neither gets the edge here as well.
The Lions have a win in their last game against the Dolphins and although they ended up on the losing side in their opening game this year, they performed better, particularly with the bat. However, the Dolphins had defeated the Lions before this at the Kingsmead which is the home ground for the former. They played their opening match here and will need lesser time to adjust to the conditions than the Lions.
The Dolphins also seem to be slightly stronger on paper and so we predict them to emerge victorious in this match.
