Victory for Khulna Tigers against Cumilla Warriors – for the second time in three days – would seal their Bangladesh Premier League 2019-20 play-off spot. The two teams meet again at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka, on January 10 and the live action is scheduled to start at 19:00 local time.
The Tigers had lost back-to-back games and looked in danger of dropping out of the top four, but Rilee Rossouw hit 71* from 36 balls and Robbie Frylinck took 5-16 as their South African stars returned to top form just in time. A 34-run win put them two points clear of the Warriors with a game in hand.
Cumilla had been gathering momentum too, with three wins in a row, but Sabbir Rahman’s 62 from 39 balls could not prevent defeat and the manner of the loss hit their net run rate hard too. As a result, even if they win this game, they may stay fifth in the table.
