New York Strikers are favorites to win
Chennai Braves will take on New York Strikers at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Match 5 of the 2022 Abu Dhabi T10 gets underway at 20:30 local time on Thursday 24th November.
It was a tournament to forget last year for Chennai Braves who lost nine and won only one game. Unsurprisingly, they finished bottom of the group but will start this season with a clean slate. They have signed some of the best short-format young players in the world and, alongside some experienced players, they will be fearless in this match.
Zimbabwe all-rounder, Sikandar Raza, comes into this competition after many fine batting performances in white ball cricket across 2022. Alongside Raza, we expect to see Sri Lanka’s Bhanuka Rajapaksa and England’s Ross Whiteley producing big scores.
Left-arm pace bowler Obed McCoy will get a huge amount of bounce and pace from this pitch and, at his best, is one of the most feared quicks in world cricket. Sikandar Raza will chip in with wickets alongside leg-spinner Karthik Meiyappan who has impressed over recent months.
Chennai Braves lost their first eight games in last year’s tournament and ended the campaign with a defeat as well.
The newcomers got off to a losing start on Wednesday when they were beaten by Bangla Tigers by 19 runs. After winning the toss and choosing to field first, the Strikers restricted the Tigers to 131-5 but never looked like chasing the target down.
Only two of New York Strikers’ batters made double figure scores in their total of 112-8. Keeper-batter Azam Khan hit 34 runs from 13 balls with captain Kieron Pollard finishing unbeaten on 45 not out from 19 balls. Khan, Pollard and opener Paul Stirling will be expected to make the majority of the runs in this match.
The five wickets against Bangla Tigers were shared between three of New York Strikers’ bowlers on Wednesday. The experienced pair of Wahab Riaz and Ravi Rampaul both took two wickets with Jordan Thompson contributing one dismissal. Riaz and Rampaul both generated plenty of pace and will do so again in this game.
New York Strikers lost on Wednesday in their first Abu Dhabi T10 fixture.
The match will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. The surface encourages pace bowling and hard hitting batting. Any score over 140 will be very hard to chase down.

After a very disappointing competition in 2021, Chennai Braves will be looking forward to getting a new campaign underway in this match. New York Strikers had some good moments on Wednesday but will need more contributions across their batting line-up. We are predicting a close game but are backing New York Strikers’ batters to deliver and are predicting a victory for them in this game.
