Chattogram Challengers Team News & Playing 11
CHC Team News
Mahmudullah has returned from injury to captain Chattogram Challengers, while Chris Gayle has stepped in to open the batting. Liam Plunkett and Rayad Emrit came into the team last time out, however, with Kesrick Williams and Lendl Simmons unavailable.
CHC Key Players
Chris Gayle: The Universe Boss says he wants to continue playing until he is 45, and his return from injury has started solidly with two consecutive scores of 23. If he can build on those platforms, Chattogram will be on their way to a big score.
Rubel Hossain: More expensive than he has been when Chattogram lost last time out, but he still has 16 wickets in the tournament so far.
Mahmudullah: His return from injury for the key part of the season is vital. He scored an unbeaten 48 from 33 balls last time out to prove his worth in the middle order.
CHC Team Form
Back-to-back wins against Khulna Tigers and and Rajshahi Royals, bowling the former out for 121 and then chasing 167 to beat the latter by seven wickets, had put Chattogram Challengers top of the table with one game to play.
They missed the chance to finish top because of defeat to Rajshahi Royals last time out, however. Mahmudullah lifted them to 155/5 as he hit two fours and three sixes in his 48* from 33 balls, but Rajshahi made light work of chasing it down as the Challengers lost by eight wickets.
Chattogram Challengers Predicted Playing 11
Junaid Siddique, Chris Gayle, Chadwick Walton, Imrul Kayes, Mahmudullah (c), Nurul Hasan (wk), Rayad Emrit, Rubel Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Mehedi Hasan Rana, Ziaur Rahman
Dhaka Platoon Team News & Playing 11
DHP Team News
Jaker Ali came into the team last time out but Dhaka Platoon were otherwise unchanged. After a much-improved batting performance, they may stick with the same team – keeping faith in the bowling attack despite their failure to defend 205.
DHP Key Players
Tamim Iqbal: A rare failure from him at the top of the order last time out, but he still finished the group stage with 393 runs and is undoubtedly the man to watch in this batting line-up.
Mominul Haque: Where Tamim fell short last time out, Mominul Haque – opening the batting with him – did not. He hammered 91 from 59 balls to power Dhaka to 205/4.
Mahedi Hasan: Added to his recent run of wickets with one of the two to fall last time out, having previously proved his all-round worth with the bat. Though dropped to number six, having been at number three, he hammered 68* from 36 balls.
DHP Team Form
Five wins in six matches looked set to carry Dhaka Platoon to the top of the table, but back-to-back defeats to finish the group stage cost them top spot. First, Thisara Perera’s 3-23 helped restrict Rangpur Rangers to 149/9, but Dhaka could only reach 138/9 in reply.
Led by Mominul Haque (91) and Mahedi Hasan (68*) the batting was much improved last time out, but they were unable to defend their total of 205/4 against Khulna Tigers as they suffered an eight-wicket defeat with 11 balls remaining.
