Central Districts will be eyeing a playoff spot when they take on Canterbury in the 28th match of the Super Smash. The match will be played at the McLean Park and is set to get underway at 7:10 PM local time.
Even though Central Districts lost the last match, we still think they have a very good team that can win against a strong Canterbury side. George Worker has been in very good form. Dough Bracewell and Josh Clarkson also batted well in the last game. These three players have been the most consistent batsmen for the Central Districts. Players like Will Young, Ross Taylor and Tom Bruce have not scored much but they’re capable of turning the game on their heads.
The bowling was pretty ordinary in the last match and they’d like to perform better in the next match. Blair Tickner is the leading wicket taker of the tournament and Central Districts will need a big effort from him. Dough Bracewell, Joey Field, Jayden Lennox will have to step up to the occasion if Central Districts have to win the match.
Taking about Canterbury, they ended their losing streak after an impressive win over Otago. Chad Bowes and Ken McClure set the platform with quickfire 30’s. Runs from the openers is a massive positive for Canterbury. Other than them, Jack Boyle, Daryl Mitchell, Cole McConchie forms a very strong batting order. Daryl Mitchell has been very good with his all round skills while McConchie has played some fine knocks for Canterbury.
In the bowling department, Matt Henry, Ed Nuttall, Daryl Mitchell, Will Williams, Todd Astle are bowling really well. If they can bowl the same way as they did against Otago, Canterbury will have a good chance of winning the match.
Overall, both teams have plenty of quality in their team but we think Canterbury is slightly more stable than Central Districts and are our favourites to win the match.
