Who will win Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers, BBL 2020?
After beating Melbourne Stars last time out, Sydney Sixers will bid to cement second place in the 2019-20 Big Bash League table – and two shots at reaching the BBL final through the play-offs – when they face Brisbane Heat at the Gabba. The match takes place on January 23 and is scheduled to start at 19:10 local time.
The Sixers’ form had faltered but they became only the second team to beat the table-topping Stars last time out. Moises Henriques starred with the bat in a rain-reduced 14-over game, which served as the perfect response to being bowled out for 76 in their previous game.
Brisbane Heat, meanwhile, have lost their last two matches following bad batting collapses – including losing ten wickets for 36 runs in their most recent game. Their fragile batting has seen them drop out of the play-off places – though they do have a game in hand on the teams above.

BRH Team News
Marnus Labuschagne is available for what could be his only BBL appearance of the season and, given Brisbane’s batting woes in recent matches, it could be a timely arrival. His Big Bash record is not good, but he has taken his batting levels to stratospheric levels in the past 12 months. Sam Heazlett replaced Max Bryant last time out and scored a half-century to justify his inclusion at the top of the order.
BRH Key Players
Chris Lynn: Starred when these teams last met, when he scored 94 in a big Brisbane win. Most recently, the big-hitting opener smashed 41 from 15 balls in an 84-run opening partnership inside six overs.
AB de Villiers: The South African superstar has been unable to showcase his best form on his eagerly-awaited BBL arrival, but he arrived fresh from some top knocks in the Mzansi Super League and his batting record speaks for itself.
James Pattinson: After arriving on the back of Australia’s test success in New Zealand, the big paceman took 5-33 in his first appearance of the season at the Gabba and was tidy enough for 1-31 last time out.
BRH Team Form
A run of four wins in five games lifted the Heat up the table but two batting collapse have resulted in two heavy defeats since. They folded for just 100 in 17 overs against Adelaide Strikers in the first of those games – losing by ten wickets – and then collapsed from 86/0 to 120 all out as they chased 165 to beat Melbourne Renegades last time out. They lost the last seven wickets for seven runs in 16 balls.

Sydney Sixers Team News & Playing 11
SYS Team News
Ordinarily, victory against the team top of the table and in superb form would lead to an unchanged 11 for the following game. But Steve Smith is back, and the Sixers can slot the Australian star straight back into the side, where he will join recently-returned test team-mate Nathan Lyon. Josh Hazlewood is also back, and Jackson Bird – having been expensive last time out – could be the man to make way.
SYS Key Players
Steve Smith: Fresh from scores of 98 and 131 in the final two ODIs of Australia’s series in India, the Sixers will welcome back the former national captain for the end of the BBL season.
Tom Curran: Continued his wicket-taking form as he claimed 2-23 last time out to move to 17 for the season in 11 innings. He ended the day second in the BBL 2019-20 wicket-taking charts.
Nathan Lyon: Took his 50th T20 wicket last time out, in his 40th innings in the format. While his test record dominates his career highlights reel, he is capable of wickets in every format.
