Gazi Group Chattogram will once again try to ensure their excellent league form is followed up by a place in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup when they take on Beximco Dhaka in the second qualifier play-off. With Gemcon Khulna lying in wait for the winner, the match takes place on December 15 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium and the live action starts at 16:30 local time.
Chattogram won seven of their eight matches in the group stage – their only defeat coming against Dhaka. They were favourites to reach the final first, but Mohammad Mithun’s 53 could not stop them falling to 163 and a 47-run defeat to Gemcon Khulna last time out.
Khulna were only playing in that match ahead of Dhaka because the latter’s winning streak ended in the final group game. They finished with four wins and four defeats, but ensured they did not rue their most recent defeat – hitting 150/8 and then, thanks to Muktar Ali’s 3-18, holding their nerve to beat Fortune Barishal by nine runs.
