Our Pick Bangladesh are favourites to win
Bangladesh will host West Indies for the 1st of the 3 match ODI series on 20th January 2021. The match will be played at the Shere Bangla Stadium and is set to get underway at 2:00 PM local time.
When it comes to ODI cricket, Bangladesh is a very dangerous team, especially in their home conditions. They’ve series wins of India, Pakistan, South Africa and New Zealand in the last few years and will start the series as favourites.
They’ve a very strong batting line up in Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das.
In the bowling department, Mustafizur Rahman will lead their charge with the ball. Taskin Ahmed and Rubel Hossain will be the other pacers. The conditions will favour the spinners and Shakib al Hasan, Mahmudullah and Mehedy Hasan will pose a stiff challenge for the West Indians.
Bangladesh have won all their last 5 matches against the West Indies and we believe that the trend will continue in this series.
West Indies batting looks a little wobbly in Sunil Amris, Jason Mohammed, Andre McCarthy, Kyle Mayers, Joshua de Silva, Nkrumah Bonner. All these batsmen are pretty inexperienced and are expected to struggle on these slow wickets.
The bowling will be led by Alzarri Joseph. The other bowlers West Indies might look to start with are Chemar Holder, Akeal Hosein and Raymon Reifer.
Overall, Bangladesh look very strong in comparison to the inexperienced West Indian unit and are our favourites for the match.

57 of the 108 matches played on this ground have been won by team batting second so the skippers might want to bowl first if they win the toss.
The pitch will be a typical subcontinent wicket. Flat, good for batting. The spinners may get some turn and ball might also keep a little low.
The weather will be cloudy on the match day. There is 20% chances of rain as well.

To be fair, there are very little hopes from this West Indian unit on this tour. They don’t seem to have enough quality in their team. Also, a lot of players hasn’t played much in the subcontinent. We expect them to struggle against a quality Bangladesh side.
Wicket Keepers
Liton Das at 90 is a good pick from this section. He’s a top order batsmen and can score very quickly.
Batsmen
Tamim Iqbal at 9.5, Sunil Ambris at 9.0, Rovman Powell at 9.0 and Mahmudullah at 9.0 will form our batting order.
Tamim has a very good record against the West Indies and against this inexperienced West Indian bowling line up he will back himself to get a big one. Same can be said about Mahmudullah who’s a very important player in this Bangladesh set up. Ambris and Powell are the two best Caribbean batsmen.
All rounder
Shakib al Hasan at 10.0 and Andy McCarthy at 8.5 will be our all rounder. Shakib is the no 1 all rounder in the world and will create a lot of trouble with his left arm spin. With the bat, he’s one of the best Bangladesh batsmen. There are lot of hopes from Andy McCarthy as well
Bowlers
Alzarri Joseph at 9.0, Mustafizur Rahman at 9.0, Taskin Ahmed at 8.5 ad Mehedy Hasan at 8.5 will complete our team. Mustafizur will be very handy with his variations on this wicket while Taskin has emerged as one of the leading pacers for Bangladesh. Mehedy Hasan with his off spin can crate a lot of problems for West Indians while Joseph is the most experienced West Indian bowler.
Captain/Vice Captain
Shakib al Hasan is our preferred captain while Tamin Iqbal can be backed as his deputy
