Bahrain are favorites to win
Bahrain will take on Saudi Arabia at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground, Muscat. Match 11 of the 2022 Desert Cup Series will get underway at 20:00 local time on Sunday 20th November.
It has been quite an up and down last few days for Bahrain who became the first team to defeat Canada in the tournament on Thursday before suffering a huge 106 run defeat to hosts Oman on Saturday evening. Ahead of this game, they are in third place, level on points with Oman and two points behind Canada.
Chasing an unlikely 221 for victory on Saturday evening, Bahrain were bowled out after 16 overs with 114 runs on the scoreboard. David Mathias top scored for the second successive match after Sohail Ahmed had top scored for Bahrain in their opening three games.
Sathaiya Veerapathiran took 3-43 against Oman but it is pace bowler Rizwan Butt who has been the most consistent bowler for Bahrain throughout this tournament. He is one of only four bowlers to have bowled a maiden and has eight wickets at an average of 10.62.
Bahrain have won three and lost two in the competition but will be low on confidence after Saturday’s defeat.
It has been a struggle throughout the five games for Saudi Arabia who are guaranteed to finish bottom of the table and will contest the Third Place Play-Off on Sunday. Their last defeat came against Canada on Saturday who beat them by a comfortable 45 runs.
Saudi Arabia have hit their two highest scores of the tournament against top of the table Canada but are yet to score more than 128 in any match. Hisham Sheikh is one run away from bringing up 100 runs in the 2022 Desert Cup and is their most likely candidate to make a half-century in this game.
Medium pacer Usman Najeeb has only played the last three games but has caught the eye with his wicket taking ability. He is yet to go wicketless in any of his matches in the competition and recorded figures of 3-22 from four overs against Canada. He seems to have found the right lengths on this pitch for his bowling.
Saudi Arabia have been outplayed in every game in Oman and are yet to look like getting a win.
The match will be played at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground, Muscat. Although it is still a batter-friendly pitch, we have seen more wickets falling on average in each game as the competition has progressed.

Bahrain’s bowling attack will certainly be a little damaged after they conceded 220 in their last game but we do not think that Saudi Arabia’s batters have the quality to take advantage. Instead, we are expecting this to be a confidence-building fixture for Bahrain who we predict to win this game easily.
