Australia Women are favorites to win
Australia Women will take on Pakistan Women at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart. Match 2 of the WT20I series gets underway at 19:05 local time on Thursday 26th January.
Experienced all-rounder, Ellyse Perry, opened the batting and top scored for Australia Women with seven fours and one six in her 57 not out from 47 balls. Ashleigh Gardner hit 30 not out from 19 balls but only four Australia Women batters were used.
Phoebe Litchfield and keeper-batter Beth Mooney were stars of the WODI series but Litchfield has not been selected for this shorter-format. Ellyse Perry has an excellent batting record across all international formats and will be one to watch in this match.
Ellyse Perry also had a strong game with the ball, taking figures of 2-3 from her two overs. But it was fast medium bowler Megan Schutt who was the standout performer. She took 5-15 at the North Sydney Oval and will enjoy the bowling conditions in Tasmania.
With the Women’s T20 World Cup just over two weeks away, Australia Women continue to play excellent cricket.
24 year old batting all-rounder Sadaf Shamas made her WT20I debut in the opening game of the series. Although she made a three-ball duck, we expect her to be given another opportunity in this match. Pakistan Women were outplayed with both bat and ball in Tuesday’s fixture.
There is a huge gap in the abilities of the Pakistan Women’s batting line-up, particularly when facing a sustained attack from the quality of Australia Women. Javeria Khan (16), Omaima Sohail (30) and Ayesha Naseem (24) were the only players to make double figures in a total of 118 all out.
21 year old Fatima Sana went wicketless at the North Sydney Oval but we expect her medium pace bowling to get more assistance in Hobart. Nida Dar took the wicket of Tahlia McGrath and is capable of taking wickets with her spin even on non-turning pitches.
Pakistan Women have won only one of their last five matches in this format.
The match will be played at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart. This is always a lively wicket at this venue with some good pace for the bowlers. Typically there will be movement off the pitch for seam bowlers.

Beth Mooney (wk), Meg Lanning (c), Tahlia McGrath, Ashleigh Gardner, Ellyse Perry, Grace Harris, Annabel Sutherland, Jess Jonassen, Alana King, Megan Schutt, Darcie Brown
Muneeba Ali (wk), Javeria Khan, Bismah Maroof (c), Nida Dar, Sadaf Shamas, Omaima Sohail, Ayesha Naseem, Fatima Sana, Tuba Hassan, Aiman Anwer, Sadia Iqbal
As expected, Australia Women were far too strong for Pakistan Women at the North Sydney Oval on Tuesday and we predict a similar outcome to this second WT20I in Hobart. Pakistan Women will look to make more runs than in the first game, that would make for progress for them in this match. Overall, we are backing Australia Women to win this fixture.
